What does FFG mean by Q2

By Hrathen, in X-Wing

All of wave 4, as well as the two large Rebel ships are all lists as expected in 2014 Q2. After some time playing this game and buying things from FFG I have started to wonder what things like Q2 mean.

To most of us Q2 means sometime between April and June. If your cynical, you could be forgiven for interpreting Q2 to mean the last possible month in that window - JUNE.

But I am not sure that this is what FFG means by Q2. My gut tells me that Q2 means something more like August or maybe even September.

Of course Rebel Aces are slated for Q3, I am interpreting this to mean January 2015.

Second quarter of the year April - June.

As for the Rebel Aces that means July - Sept.

For FFG, Q2 means GenCon.

I'm sure they mean Q2 like everyone else does. I just think they're a bit optimistic about how soon they can get stuff out.

GenCon... 2015 :)

Well let's see imp aces were q4 2013 and released late q1 2014

so that means q2 2014 will be q4 2015

Edit: FFG needs to make it so you can delete posts >_<

Q1, Q2, Q3, Q4, those things can mean anything

I work for a fortune 500 and Q1 starts in March. Go figure...

But for the most part, they release windows match up with the standard calander. When things are delayed, the release windows show that (Aces were moved to Q1 for example).

Having worked in industries that routinely deal in estimating guessing ship dates for products from all over the planet, I think they're doing a decent job. It's not like FFG is just working with just one contract with just one factory for a few plastic space ships. I'd love to see the whole production list of all the products around the planet that they're trying to coordinate all at once for all the games they produce. I'm sure it's a nightmare job of logistics and bourbon.

Besides, it's not like they need to have the Upcoming page information. They could just leave everything as "Coming Soon" and be done with it.

We are not talking financial Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4 here which can have a flexible definition depending on the company, we are talking Q1/Q2/Q3/Q4 on the calendar. Just like you think of it. Imperial Aces got delayed a bit. Not as bad as Wave 2 did.

Take a look at Wave 3. Announced on May 4th weekend, with a shipping date of "third quarter 2013" They were in stores early to mid September, not even at the end of the month, but near the end of the quarter overall. The latest full wave was on time, and people tend to ignore that all together. I would bet they have learned from the mis-steps and Wave 4 will be on time as well.

I believe there is a good chance FFG will have wave 4 out by the end of June. For no other reason then the prerelease event being scheduled late may early June.

Q2 = 2 Q's = QQ

They just want everyone to stop QQing - it'll get here when it gets here.

Zackly. Everybody still wants to whine about how wave 2 was delayed, and Imperial Aces was delayed, and nobody mentions the fact that wave 3 was available at GenCon (when it was still listed as "on the boat") and in stores on time. The releases where they hit the mark are forgotten in the angst of not having what you want RIGHT NOW.

This is how humans work, we only remember the bad and forget the good

Don't mind me, I'm just liking every comment so far.

edit: and I'm not trolling, I'm really enjoying the conversation.
