HWK got a range 3 hit on an Interceptor

And the HWK was mine! Aside from that amusing tidbit, I played a 110 point game vs a friend last night and learned some really interesting lessons. List was:

In Order of Pilot Skill:

Chewbacca+Luke+Opportunist+Hull Upgrade

Roark+Recon+Moldy Crow+Blaster Turret

Proto A-Wing+Conk Missles+Stealth Device

vs.

Darth Vader+Adrenaline Rush+Cluster Missles

Carnor Jax?(whoever denies token use)+Targeting Comp+Shield Upgrade

Bounty Hunter+Heavy Laser+Navigator

I may be a little off on the Imperial list, but that was the meat of it.

Despite having it over a year, that was my first time running the YT. I like it and really appreciated the maneuverability as well as the hit points.

I rarely run a game without the HWK and getting a 360 ATK3 has proved very useful. Roark's ability as also saved me from some nasty alpha strikes, as no one really expects the PS12 to hit their PS9.

I never really run A-Wings, but thought it would be a good flanker, especially with the SD and Conk missile. Roark would make the most out of the low PS, also.

Results:

I ended up winning without losing a single ship, but I don't think I would ever run this list again. I had pretty far intervals between my pilots (about range 2) while my opponent kept the two TIES together.

I won because I fooled him into splitting his attack. I presented Chewie as a nice target, but bugged out after losing half his health. Knowing the firespray dial really helped, as I was able to put Chewie out of his arc. I purposely put the HWK in danger to tempt the ties away and was able to wear down the Firespray.

Lessons Learned:

The YT's 1 turn vs Firespray's 1 bank can be exploited.

Trying to Flank/Alpha strike with a low PS/Roark combo does not work, as the low PS pilot is usually not in range to TL during his action, if in range at all. I took me until turn 4 to fire off my A-Wing's missile.

Jax is very effective vs. Blaster Turret, moreso than Dark Curse.

Roark + Homie (w/ Opportunist) is not always effective, since the target is likely to have a focus or evade at the beginning of the Combat Phase. For example, enemy Darth Vader has an evade token. Chewie is range 1, A-Wing is range 3. Even though Chewie has the best chance of taking him out, it may be worth it to strip the token with the A-Wing attack and allow Chewie to use Opportunist.

Opportunist + Luke is a gamble. More than once I did an unmodified attack with Chewie, intending for it to miss so I could use Luke, TL, and Opportunist all at once. I got boned, rolling 1 hit vs 0 evades and missed out on doing some potential damage.

Anyway, just thought I would share. I always appreciate the care taken with the upgrades and abilities, since they can change established lists.
