What Else Does Cloak Have?

We already know that Cloak's a 2 agility buff that stops you from attacking. However, if you look at the Cloak rules card, it's four paragraphs long and takes up the whole card, which suggests there's more to Cloak than an ability that's arguably not that much better than Evade when you consider the inability to attack. Any idea what else Cloak could do?

Yup probably has something to do with other ship interactions, and there are probably some other things you can't do some you're cloaked besides attack.

Or it could require that the attacker must spend a target lock to fire at the phantom.

I agree that it probably has (and probably needs) some other effect. The +2 AGI is nice, but a little underwhelming. That being said, I would love for more defensive buffs to start trickling into the game, so I am very intrigued by what the Phantom may be able to do.

At least one... But hopefully some combo of the following:

Can't be TL'd OR requires TL spent to attack it

Can't be attacked at range 3+ (unlikely with epic play)

Can take an extra action/maneuver instead of attack when cloaked!

Attacker gets no extra dice vs. cloaked at range 1

Attacker can't modify dice

Defender can modify dice more than once

I'm personally hoping for have to spend a TL or focus token to even attack, can't be attacked by primary weapons at range 3+, and can perform either a 1-2 speed maneuver during attack phase when cloaked.

Gives the phantom 4green dice, no dice modified, and a very dynamic ship when cloaked, and when decloaked a very destructive ship.

it would be interesting if it had some effect like "cannot be attacked at range 3 while cloaked" but i doubt it

cloak will be awesome when the tantive comes out with its range 5 weapons that double your agility.

That's the "cloaks after shooting" one, right? That's pretty nifty, but it's a mod. I'm wondering what else the base cloak mechanic does.

Nothing that we've seen other than the 2 extra agility dice.

Looks like it...it is like spending a TL. So as of now it appears you can remove the token during your activation phase and you will still get an action.

Yeah, decloaking is not an action, that much is clear (the wording of Stygian Particle Accelerator is what settles it).

Can also have rules such as you lose cloak token when hit like stealth device.

That and a thorough explanation on what you can't do while cloaked and when you can cloak can take up an entire card. I don't expect any other bonus while cloaked other then 2 agi.

I really hope FFG didn't create this ship knowing full well that Blount would be demise of it.

I actually hope for a kind of sensor echo(from attack wing) free action when you de-cloak.

free barrel roll using the 2 strait template. So it would be like, I kind of know where that ship is...but when it de-cloaks it is not the precise spot i thought it was. It would be a really strong action though, if you get it for free. But it would represent cloaking well.

Ah, very cool. So cloaking could net you 4 evade dice most of the time, plus an evade token. You know, I think Phantoms will be really fun to run duel-Phantom lists with. I'm normally not a fan of duel-anything lists.

Well, yes, but to get the evade token you'd have to either decloak and lose the 2 evade dice, or cloak but forgo the attack. APC and SPA are both modifications so are mutually exclusive.

I could see a phantom with some interceptor wingmen wreaking havoc though.

Ah, yes, right. Well like i said, duel phantom list. You could play Whack-a-mole, only with much more dire consequences for not hitting the mole in time. And yes, Interceptors are my favorite ships so of course I'd bring them along (points permitting).

I would have liked to see FFG duplicate the cloak from Attack Wing i.e. 4 defense dice, disable shields, sensor shadow, etc...
