There is only one turret in the game that can fire at R3 and it's connected to a 1 agility bull in a China shop. R3 and asteroids are an Interceptors best friends, and now they can TL!
A-Wing vs. Interceptor
I do look forward to the zippy fights between Ace enhanced A-wings and Interceptors. That does seem fun. Though, I personally a fan of U-turn Tycho (Daredevil sees play finally).

Edit: bc he doesn't have an EPT slot! Obviously.
Edited by GeoffyI just played a game where I had this:
Fel + PTL + SD
Saber + VI + SD
I went against this:
Tycho + PTL + SD
Green + PTL + SD
Green + PTL + SD
Gold + IC + EU
The points were radically different for a reason, escalation league where I failed to keep up with points. The player I played against wasn't a top tier player, but wasn't a rookie either.
I killed every last one of them, only lost 2 HP on my Saber. Fel was unscathed.
The key to me with Interceptors is having a high PS to move after and out of arcs, then to not be afraid to just evade + focus with your SD. It's really hard to land a lot of shots on them that way. Sure you're susceptible to the all blank evade, but most are, and you are less at an issue to it if you don't let them actually shot you a lot.
I do agree that the biggest issue would be a YT or double YT list, but I don't really fear Y-wing Ion turrets anymore. Your 3 attack dice, even with TL, most of the time won't get through my 4 defense dice with Focus and Evade, and I will eat you up with my attacks.
I feel that rebel aces will give A-wings a leg up. Interceptors are the better ship, hands down, but double elite talents is better than double mods, and Interceptors have a very severe weakness to the Millenium Falcon. A-wings are almost as vulnerable, but lower on the totem pole. I'll be running Daredevil PTL Tycho all day long.
Interceptors are better in the absolute sense, but cost efficiency is king. With the -2 cost, the A-wings beat the pants off the Interceptors, at least for the low PS ships.

Why doesnt anyone seem to take daredevil on Arvel to take advantage of his ability?
Because Arvel doesn't have an EPT slot...........

Doh! I assumed he did since GSPs get it. That's why the awing title will finally allow this to happen...
And yet...
I'm not saying it's the smartest idea but it is now possible. His ability is almost impossible to use otherwise.

I think the A Wings just got a leg up. Interceptors still fill a slightly different role, but A Wings are going to be much more competitive than they were.
Just imagine Tycho with Push the Limit and Wingman, or ptl and evasive maneuvers, or ptl and opportunist. All of those cards that generate stress that you had to choose between before, now you just have to make sure you can find tycho underneath his stack of stress tokens.
Or, two green squadron pilots with ptl and wingman. They can take two actions, discard the stress, and then make a k-turn the next move. Or, they can do back to back k turns, shedding each others' stress.
A wings will be even better flankers than they already are.
Don't a lot of those EPTs say you can't do them if you have stress tokens?
Yeah, opportunist definitely does, and I'm pretty sure evasive maneuvers does. But if he has a wingman with the wingman card, then you can do push the limit, then the token is removed at the beginning of the combat phase, and opportunist is ready to go!
I'm actually really looking forward to PTL + Expose on a GSP. Comes in at 24 points, which is 1 point more than a Red, and 1 PS lower. Meanwhile, I'll continue to fly it like an A wing, on the flank, flying forward at 5 straight + boost, and getting around the back of my opponent. 3F is better than 2 F+TL. So it gives me a better offensive action to use when I don't really need evade/boost since I'm already behind everything. Meanwhile, when I am in the cross hairs, I have an extra evade die (over the Red) plus a second action to spend on... say an evade =P. If I spend 1 evade token in the game, then I had the same total health than that Red.
I see this becoming a main part of my squadron. Instead of building 100 pt lists, I show just start building 76 point lists, and plopping this into every one of them. I'm excited enough to try this, that I might break my rule about not trying out unreleased stuff until everything is spoiled.
