This is the question I have. Though I think it's balanced the Phantoms are going to push the favor a bit more this next round for Imperial.
Who is winning Wave 4, Imp or Rebel?
I think until we know more about what the Defenders and Phantoms have, anything we say is at best guessing.
From what I have heard sofar its evens
Need more info, but at the moment I'd say IMPs.
Phantoms already look awesome and I have high hopes for the Defender, despite its cost.
Z-95s look like they will be better than I expected, but I think the E-wing is teetering (for now at least) as not worth the points.
To put it another way, if I was to win an Imdaar tourney, I'd want a Phantom hands-down, and I play Rebs much more than Imps.
I feel like this wave is just kinda offering some new stuff for everybody, and not necessarily evenly. The rebels are getting a cheap swarm ship, and the imperials are getting a small fighter with the canon upgrade slot, as well as a ship besides the shuttle that can take crew and system upgrades. But I agree that the Phantom is turning the tables a bit, just cause it's the newest thing announced so far with that cloaking device and 4 attack dice.
Hopefully the imperials! It will give the space hippies a chance to take a bath!
This is a terrible thread topic. Can't we we appreciate what we've got and stop trying to find imbalance every where?
It is so hard to tell at this point. The phantom I believe with the 4 attack dice and cloak make it a hard hitting ghost. The Z95 looks to be a good solid upgrade to rebellion fleet. I'm leaning towards Imps
I can't state the excitement I feel seeing 1 YT1300 with 6 z95s. But based on the fact the phantom has 5 attack at range 1 is nuts. There is a chance to kill an A,X, Z95 or a Hwk in a single turn is nuts. I plan on running 4 of them which is enough to kill any one ship. Without knowing anything else the phantom hands down is the new beat stick.

I am more feeling out what people think. I have seen a lot of the Z95s are over powered talk I was just wondering if other felt differently.
Best ship is likely phantom depending if they don't have anymore odd restrictions such as losing cloak if it's hit.
Best list will be rebel. They just have better synergy and the z95 write up was written up to specifically target the swarm list which is the most competitive imp list.
I think that the roles are inverting with this wave, until now, the Imperials Works better with the swarm of the lowest pilots, and rebels work better with some of the highest pilots, but with the Wave 4, we see that the rebels Works fine with the swarm of Z-95, and with the advantage of they have Pilot of 2, so maybe the Imperial Swarm of TIE Fighters are lose their power, greettings.

The swarm is not the most competitive list, its the most used. Every tournament I have been in, the swarm only manages middle of the board rankings. This might be different else where but if we can gather from the store champ thread, there are plenty of competitive imperial lists.
The answer: FFG is winning because this wave isn't coming out for another 4-6 months, and it has everyone's panties in an uproar.

THIS
Rebels, because of the Z-95. The other ships are nice, but they're just more expensive super-ships. And we already have plenty of super-ships, so they're just some slight variations on the general concept. Is a list with 3x TIE defenders really going to be all that different from a list with Fel/Phennir/Vader? Probably not. The Z-95, on the other hand, completely changes rebel strategy by offering a viable cheap ship that can give you a swarm list, a 4-5 ship list with a pair of elite aces, or just a way to spend those last 10-15 points without buying a bunch of useless upgrades.
Imperials, because Star Destroyer.

It's a win / win. FFG empties my wallet (again), and I get a bunch more new ships to play with.

Yeah, but you can only get them if you place Top 4 at the pre-release. The main release will be a month or two after that.
