Question in regards to Flak Cloak and Mesh Combat Cloak (Errata) Inconsistencies

By Kilcannon, in Dark Heresy Rules Questions

The Flak Cloak costs 80 thrones and gives an armor rating to body in the core rule book. Now with the Errata it gives an armor rating to Head, Arms, Legs, and Body. For 80 thrones you get so much now, but if you decide to buy the Mesh Combat Cloak instead for 350 thrones you get an armor rating that is 1 higher to Arms and Body, but it doesn't protect your Head or your Legs. The question is if this makes sense or not? Is this an Errata item waiting to happen or is there some other reason that you get so much more for 80 thrones than you do for 350? I think its safe to say a cloak would cover the same body parts regardless of the material its made of.

If someone can please shed some light on this I would greatly appreciate it.

I would rule, Mesh Cloak (Arms, Body, Legs, Head)

Its a lot lighter, 1.5 kg vs 8kg

I also thought it is weird that the Light Flak Coat, Flak Cloak and Flak Greatcloak covered different regions. I ruled all three cover Body, Arms and Legs (AP 2, 3, 4 respectively) while the Flak Jacket covers only Body and Arms.

Does anyone think this was an oversight in regards to the Errata?

The Flak Coat and the Flak Jacket also don't compare. The Coat covers all locations with 3 AP, and yet is still cheaper than the Jacket who covers not the head.

Why would anyone want a Flak Jacket when the Flak Coat is superior yet cheaper?

The new errata is out and they corrected the mesh cloak as well. Even though I doubt it is because of my question on here, I will pretend it is because of my question lol

I changed the Flak Cloak price to 180, seems less broken.

I would agree that the Flak Cloak should be more than 80 thrones if it is 3armor to all.

from the errata:

The Flak Cloak on page 145 should cover the following
locations: Head, Arms, Legs, Body.

The Mesh Combat Cloak on page 145 should cover the
following locations: Head, Arms, Legs, Body.
