So i just really want to confuse my opponent and i want to flip their already "flipped-faced down" foundation and flip it face down again, since now its considered a foundation with a blank text box. Specifically:

1: Flip Bitter Rivals face down with Atoning for his Wicked Deeds

2: They try and commit one of my cards later in the game

3: I react with Soul Calibur* to flip their "foundation with a blank text box" face down to reveal a Bitter Rivals but retain it being a "foundation with a blank text box" due to Soul Calibur*'s Effect

just a question cause it would be cool if in the heat of the game and i did this and my opponent is planning their kill and forget its a blank foundation it would be awesome.

so can i do it?

Soul Calibur* : R Commit: After your opponent plays an ability that commits 1 card in your staging area, choose 1 foundation in your opponent's staging area and turn it face down. That card is considered to be a foundation with a blank text box.

Since Soul Calibur (and the rest of his flip stuff) clearly states "flip it face down", if you attempt to flip an already flipped foundation, it would remain "face down". Just because the card is now considered to be a completely new foundation, does not make the back of the cards its "face".

edit: replied before your edit. i obviosly disagree with the fact that it doesn't have a face. If a card becomes "a foundation with a blank text box" its as if my opponent had played a 0 diff 0CC foundation and moved it down to their staging area. Just cause it has a lack of actual function or picture or name doesn't mean that the foundation is not a face of the card.

you should be able to flip the back side of a card face down, it just happens to be what most would consider normally face up

It says "considered", so it is considered a foundation, but it is in reality still a face down card, and so if you flip it face down, it will still be face down, so for all intents and purposes they count as foundations, but are still face down cards at the same time. In the same way that .Jedah. can turn his attacks into foundations, but they are still attack cards.

so i'm still waiting on an official answer for this

and the official answers are still waiting for rules to come out so they can gain the sanity required to answer it

so it's been over a week now and a rules mod has YET to touch this thread. Answer please.

I'd say it's pretty clear cut no.

You can't commit a foundation that's aready committed.

You can't flip something facedown that's already facedown.

Though, since it is considered a foundation, I could buy that you "flip it face down" but since it's already facedown no further effect happens. But only just barely, and only because of the "It's considered a foundation" text.
