I'll be in Japan, Kyoto from mid April to end May.

Just wondering if there are any players in the kyoto or osaka region? Looking to get some games going.

Great! Are there any stores that support X-wing or is it mostly gatherings?

In Singapore, we have a couple of shops that are really promoting the game, so just curious about how strong the X-wing community is over there.

No store support, just local gatherings, there are about 5 of us with collections, but we have enough for other players

Cool, I didn't know you were in Japan. I lived on Awajishima for a few months, and Hiroshima for a while before that.

I'm planning a trip to Japan in late June. Wonder if my wife will let me out for a day

My wife lives there but I'm not sure if I should move there... but if the game I love is popular, sure!

Well when you put it that way

In all honesty it just something I thought of the other day

Before I sell most of what I have and move was thinking of things I won't sell

Be awesome if there are people there I can play with

Maybe next year when I go for a trip

I wouldn't say it's super popular here - probably because it's something you have to know about and import, so I haven't met many japanese that know the game. Most of the people I know who play it are connected through my group of board gaming friends or through Kansai JIGG (Japanese international gaming group) - which meets in Osaka on the first sunday of each month.

Anyway - if you're in the area i'd be happy to play a game (schedule dependant) besides our houses - or the JIGG meeting, there are some local stores, that may allow us to play in them - which I should do to see if we can generate interest in the game. I'm not sure how popular the game would become here - but until FFG does a Japanese release this game will be pretty obscure here.

A friend of mine had a couple of Japanese exchange students for a month earlier this year. He brought them to our weekly boardgame night, and I ended up showing them my Attack Wing stuff, which they didn't recognize, but their eyes lit up when I showed them my X-Wing collection. They knew Star Wars.
