ABXY

By Morgan Reid, in X-Wing

Was keen to run as many different ships as I could be still be competitive and I came up with this:

A-Wing, Green Sqn, PTL

B-Wing, Blue Sqn, Adv Sensors

X-Wing, Garven

Y-Wing, Dutch, Blaster

100

Have only flown it once but it worked a treat, Durch and Garven work great together and the A-Wing with PTL was a big winner.

I recently came up with a similar list:

Jake Farrell

— A-Wing 24 + Squad Leader 2 + Chardaan Refit -2 + Push the Limit 3+ Stealth Device 3 + A-Wing Test Pilot 0

Garven Dreis

— X-Wing 26 + Flechette Torpedoes + 2 R2-F2 3 + Engine Upgrade 4

"Dutch" Vander

— Y-Wing 23 + Ion Cannon Turret 5 + Flechette Torpedoes 2 + Flechette Torpedoes 2 + R7-T1 3

100pts

R7-T1 triggers a free boost when you gain a target lock on somebody who can fire on you, the target lock then triggering Dutch's ability. Squad Leader on Jake likewise helps whomever needs it, Garven gains boost and R2-F2's +1 agility actions as options, and there are three stress inducing flechette torpedoes along with the ion turret.

Someone has pointed out in the past that the four PS 6 Rebels of each of those ships fit nicely in a 100 point squad. You'd have Dutch Vander, Garven Dreis, Arvel Crynyd and Ibtisam. You won't have room for a turret on Dutch, but I've tried this squad out and it's surprisingly effective. Very fun to play too.

The list I have been running is

Prototype - Ass miss

Biggs

Dutch - Ion

Blue - Adv Sens.

All 4 ships have their own tricks. Lots of variation. Also a fair bit of target diversity. Each ship has a good reason to need killing.

Y-wing, Dutch, Blaster

You realize that Dutch's ability and the blaster are mutually exclusive? I mean, sure its great while Garven is still alive, but any opponent with some experience is going to kill garven first, gimping your synergy (or even cause a bump to action deny). I'd prefer to stick an ion cannon instead, or if not possible due to point constraints, drop the blaster for a missile on the green.

My 2 cents anyway

There has GOT to be a better way to abbreviate Assault Missiles.

I love flying Dutch, Garvin, Ibtisan and Arvel. Sure Dutch has no turret and Arvel's ability aint much, but the synergy with action passing and having everyone move at 6 makes it a fairly strong squad. When we get the rebel aces I might be tempted to swap out Arvel for Jake, and maybe even Ibtisan for Keyan.

You beat me to it. That's the first thing I thought, too. Then I had to decide whether or not trolling was to blame, lol.

I ran the 4 named PS 6 guys today and it was surprisingly fun. I don't think it would hold much water in a tournament setting as some important upgrades are lacking for me (I always take a turret on a y-wing), but it still functions pretty well with the focus passing and target lock passing. I also love how people completely ignore a-wings. They're fantastic ships and great closers. Opportunist alone has already made them hurt much much more IMO.

ABXY? I'll raise you a ZZ! Still 100 points. (Includes chardaan refit)

My go to ABXY squad lately has been

Green Squadron pilot + Squad leader

Blue Squad +FCS + HLC

Garven Dreis

Gold Squad + Blaster Turret

One I've been tinkering with:

A - GSP with Opportunist

B - Dagger Sq. With Advanced sensors

X - Garven Dreis

Y - Gold Sq. With Ion Cannon
