I get it, Heart of Darkness

Casting about my book collection seeking jungle descriptions for Beyond the Rim's trek across Cholgana I realized Sterling Hershey lifted from Joseph Conrad. Ol Harzol will be Kurtz in my iteration

I modelled harsol after brando. Paranoid poet, lisp and all, it worked a charm! My PC's wanted to laugh but were too scared of what he might do to them....

I think this works to ratchet up the tension to be sure. Although the primary difference is that Harsol isn't working with local indigenous cultures, but with other survivors of the wreck... and of course modified Nexu.

I've not run Beyond the Rim yet, but I think this could work some wonders with my crew.

I'm starting BtR this week, so this is an instant goldmine. I read this OP and then re-read the Cholganna chapter with an entirely new vision in my head of how to present this oppressively humid, danger infested jungle planet... If I can pull it off, it should scare the pants off the players... The odd Arboreal Octopod couldn't hurt, either...
