Visibility of FFG

By mikeyboy403, in X-Wing

I was wondering why we don't see any FFG staff or game designers on the forum. It would be cool to get their views on why certain rules are in force, why certain cards do certain things and what they were hoping to achieve from them. If they see ideas for cards that they could take away, tweak and possibly release in the future.

I would also like to see the forum have few more permenant threads like a builds thread and a rules thread and painting thread. This is just to make it eaisier to find topics. Also it would be cool to have some posts pinned like x-wing 101 for new players.

What do you guys and girls (are there any on here?) Think?

I think primarily they don't want to open themselves up to a forum moderator or somesuch making a ruling counter to their intentions and then having to backtrack.

This actually happened a while back on a Spanish(?) forum.

FFG does not communicate through their own forums, it is their policy not to do so.

While it can be frustrating you have to understand why they wouldn't want to start communicating through their forums. It opens them up to posters believing that FFG has to justify design choices to them.

Considering what many dev's put up with on MMO forms, I don't blame them.

They are however quite good about responding to emails about rule questions. They may not be quick, but they always seem to reply at some point.

That depends entirely on the questions you're asking them.

Things like "How do secondary weapons work?" and "What does immediately mean when it is used in the text?" are typically met with very long-lived crickets.

I'm glad that FFG stays off the forums. Things could get nasty, and its usually caused by a few jerks ruining it for everybody. Leave the forums and rampant speculation/math-winging to the fans

Ok they are all fair comment's. But I still think they could at least restructure the forum to make it user friendly instead off having to hunt though months of posts to find the one you want.

Honestly, this is a vast, VAST improvement... The previous forum software was pretty much unusable. At least these ones will load a page in under 30 seconds, so you can manually search the past history quicker.

I agree that the forums could be structured better. It's a sign that the community is growing! :) As it stands, they're not terrible though

No company that small has a cloaking device!

Obviously, in such cases nothing would come of it, but the potential hassle of even one frivolous lawsuit is enough for them to enforce the policy.
