TIE Defender White Koiogran confirmed

By UnfairBanana, in X-Wing

I'll bet anyone $10 cash that the E-wing and Defender's PS 3 ships have EPT. This is just one of those things that have to be. They wouldn't make such an elite ship - without giving them elite pilots.

They did say that the named Defenders will have EPT, specifically because it is an elite ship. But they didn't say anything about PS3 ships, so I would agree with Vorpal, don't get your hopes up.

Tie Interceptors and A-wings - the fast ships, each have a generic with an EPT. The slow ships do not have a generic with an EPT. It follows FFG's current precedent for these newer, faster ships to have a generic with an EPT. This is deduction, not hoping.

Edit: I'm not saying that i'm right - just that current precedents would be in line with my predictions

I'd bet the E wing won't because there is the droid that can give a PS3 Ewing an EPT.

True but the Saber is PS4, the PS3 has no EPT.

In the Rebel Transport…not in wave 4.

True but Green is PS3, so there's clearly not a Pilot Skill requirement

So my hope is an EPT for the PS3 Defender - but no EPT for the PS3 E-Wing. This may sound cruel, but ... the E-Wings got a System Upgrade Slot AND a Droid slot ... so use your new R2 to get EPT :P

Transport is set to be released before wave 4. Besides, why does the fact that they are not part of the same release matter?

True. I'll just rephrase it to this: The Only rebel PS3 pilot we have, has an EPT. This would indicate that the likelihood of another Rebel PS3 pilot having an EPT slot is higher than not.

The droid was phrased as not working for pilots with PS 2 or lower. I don't see why they wouldn't make it 3 or lower unless the Ewing needs it to have a cheaper EPT slot.

So, now ... wouldn't it be kinda unfair if the PS3 Defender don't get an EPT slot?

I wouldn't go as far as calling it unfair, but a PS3 Defender with an EPT would give a certain kind of symmetry. But it also worth considering that the droid is unique, so the Ewing will probably not get a truly generic EPT.

.. and a PS3 Defender almost begs for the Veteran Instincts EPT

Tarn Mison. That's why.

Math. It. Up.

Use the information if you will, and can, but most math heavy posts have a disclaimer about how specific they are. When they are done well they are perfect for thier give situation, try to apply them across the board in general sweeps and trying to pick the apart for "not covering everything" makes you miss the point.

I'd love to compile a top 4 list from every store championship, try doing it just for the top lost though...it consumes my mondays. Thats why there have been many requests for FFG to get some reportig software running and posting publically. Sadly, some championships don't even have 10-12 players so not really a useful bit of info. Top 2 lists would be great. The other problem is, if you didn't win it or get 2nd (sometimes 3rd) you don't really go out of your way to post it.

Math is good to know, yes it is only part of the equation. Results are great, but reports from those winners and losers would tell you more. The only way to spot the trends however is the math and is the black and white "win".

Maybe . . . Maybe

But I just find it odd that they would write it as such to include a single pilot whose ability is much better suited to the generic R7, and has no particular synergy with an EPT.

For regionals, we should record top 1, 2, and 4. There's only 8 stores so that's only 32 squads.

If the Regionals are anywhere near as large as I suspect, you need at least top 8, ideally the top 16. Going back to worlds analysis, the top 8 was helpful, sure, but looking at what made the cut at top 16 tells the better story.

I think using the the defender as a Cannon carrier and flanking will be quite powerful. I also think ion, pass and flip, then annihilate will see a lot of use. I think this will be a powerful addition to the game, once people get a feel for it.

How about $100 cash? Each? ;)

I kid, I kid. SIGH

I note that using points percentage also rather buffs the cheap filler ships in the showings. It also weights named versions of ships the same as the base ones. Should we really be comparing Jan Ors and Rebel Operative the same? What about Academy Pilot and Howlrunner? I also note that the system isn't including upgrade points against the ship using the upgrade.

Everything in that post is 100% wrong. I have been manually adding up all the points per ship, including named pilot costs and upgrades etc attached to each ship type. Go look at the Google doc closer.

Sithborg, good point on the support ships and their expected percentage representations. I'll have to consider that in the "tier" placement.

At least the Defender is the next preview (likely in 2 weeks). I really want to know what Outmaneuver and Predator do.

We'd probably break even...

I'd take a guess on...

Outmaneuver - "After K-Turning receive 1 free Evade Token" - 3pts

Predator - "When attacking from outside the Defender's Firing Arc, you may change one Hit to a Critical or one blank to a hit, then receive 1 stress token. Cannot be used while stressed" - 5-7pts

pretty confident on my Outmaneuver guess.

the Predator is a mix of Backstabber, Opportunist, Proton, and Concussion. which I think put together that way is a fair representation of the word "predator".
