I'd give it a try. A white K-Turn can be as mighty as a FCS
TIE Defender White Koiogran confirmed
Hopefully a built in shielded "super" interceptor will be the Tie Avenger, but it seems that the E-wing (guessing, and will adjust opinion when the dial is spoiled, but with its current stats, its something that Interceptor pilots would love because in order to get the 2 modifications to get to 5HP, the PS must be 6 or higher) will be more like the "super" interceptor that Imperials always wanted (sans the boost of course).
Why do the imperials need a super interceptor? Why not have the tie avenger do its own thing?
You're right, why not.
Maybe it's a white K turn, speed to be determined when the Defender conducts its maneuver.
A nice idea for a pilot skill, but probably not good for the dial....
I guess it will be a white speed 5 k-turn and a red speed 3 k-turn on the defender' dial
Think like ... the Defender is the Jet powered plane amongst piston engine planes ... piston engine planes are much better in flying sharp courves - jet powered planes fight in a different style ... just like the pilots of the Me262 had to use different fighter tactics as they were used in their Bf109.
Yes, I certainly see your point. But let's say you have a friend who really loves the flavor of WWII fighters. Would you get them a calendar of modern fighter jets for Christmas?
Well ... the German secret weapons actually were WWII planes. The first jet fighters and the first stealth fighter/bomber. And the Haunebu? Who knows ... ^^
So, you want to compare the ME262 with a modern jet fighter?
Imagine in X-Wing the Defender is the ME262 ... the Phantom is the Horten229 ... so its just the natural progress of weapons development during a long-fought war.
The problem is that the flight mechanics strongly favor ships that can turn a tighter radius. Slower speed maneuvers are worth more than faster maneuvers.
Thats true for all ships without white k-turns on their dials ^^

If the Defender only has 1 white K-turn, then a cunning enemy might be able to block you from taking it every turn. Or if you're PS1 and move first it might be blocked anyway.
In theory you can do the same thing to B-wings, who only have 1 K-turn, but with Advanced Sensors they can almost always barrel roll out of a block.
It's advanced tactics, so maybe it doesn't really matter.
We'll see. I think the w k-turn makes up for the high price.
At best its like having Advanced Sensors, you get to keep your action. But the ship looks like it is overcosted by about 5 points. Too much of a deficit to make up, most likely.

22 points for an x-wing with 3 agilty and systems slot, barrel roll and evade? are you crazy?
Guess that settles it guys. The tie defender isnt a good ship, and we will have to wait til at least wave 6, probably 7, for something that can cure the current bwing meta
I guess. No point in even buying a Defender and actually testing it out. /sarcasm
We will see. A white K-turn is extremely powerful. Especially when jousting.
I'll be getting 2 or 3 when I can... same with Phantoms...

That comment was in regards to the TIE Defender, not the E-wing. The PS1 "jousting value" of a 3/3/3/3 ship is 24.4.
For reference, the PS1 "jousting value" of a 3/3/2/3 E-wing is 22.5, but then it has lots of upgrade options, as you said.

I'll be getting 4. ![]()
just curious but "What is the Jousting Value of a PS0 E-Wing?" considering the systems card that was leaked that changes PS during Activation.

All of the "jousting values" that I compute are essentially referenced to a PS1 TIE Fighter, so to make it an apples to apples comparison I remove PS from the equation. So, basically, the way I compute jousting value, it only makes sense at PS1. If you want a higher PS, you bid for it. Some ships have an inherent forced bid because they start higher than 1. I.e. a 21 point Rookie X-wing costs an equivalent of 20 points at PS1. You can read about the methodology here:
Basically, the PS1 Defender is an Alpha Interceptor with +3 shields.
So: 18 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 30
But we know that modifications are more expensive then natural stats.
So it should be 18 + 3 + 3 + 3 = 27
We don't have evade and we don't have boost on the Defender.
So this white k-turn comes with a price:
evade action + boost action + 3 points.
I can't tell what this is worth point-wise. 7 to 8 points I guess?
Lets say 7 points, just like a HLC.
If you had the choice to equip either a HLC or a white k-turn ... What would you take?

White k turn every day. This game is won and lost by maneuvering. Same reason FCS/AdvS are really popular for bwings, but nobody puts the hlc on it.
The white turn I awesome but it also said that the Defender has a harder time doing sharp turns because of it's speed compared to other ties. This is also shown in the already released pictures, where there is a red sharp one. This kinda disappoints me, because I was hoping for it to be almost as maneuverable as the interceptor. But I can always just K turn and then give it an engine upgrade to boost, which should let me blow up some rebel scum!
I guess the dial will look like this (maybe the 2 straight will also be green)

I hope this unique white k-turn will be twice on the dial, so it looks like this:

No big deal, but you were able to vary a bit, so yout opponent has a harder time to block you ![]()
I agree with the above post... Most probably that's how the defender's dial will be.
