could someone please post the original card text of the town shield? The German translation is somewhat ambiguous.

Keep in mind that pierce is specifically noted as not being able to ignore shields in the JitD rulebook. So, while you can't use a shield to cancel trap damage or bleed damage, for example..you could still use a shield to soak wounds from a dragon or deep elf.
And to add further confusion there is a single shield from AoD (Skull Shield) that CAN be used to cancel wounds ignoring armor.
