Flipped down card in the Rebel Aces pack

By Khyros, in X-Wing

So, I stopped reading through the Rebel aces thread after about page 20, so I'm sorry if this has been discussed there.

I'm curious what all of ya'll think the flipped down card in the rebel aces pack is. Looking through the other 12 cards exposed, we have 2 unique cards, and then 5 sets of 2 copies of everything else. It would seem to me then that the hidden card should be a unique card as well, otherwise there would be two copies of it.

But we know it's a missile (or at least uses the missile slot). Which means that it's designed for use on the A wing. And I can't think of ANY reason for why there would be a unique missile (I mean, they're expendable, the point is that they're one use weapons, so you have to have lots of them).

So, I've come up with 2 conclusions. Perhaps it's a reusable missile or sorts, thus why it is unique (because the one card represents multiple missiles, but to keep it from obsoleting every other missile, it's unique) something like "concussion missile magazine" or something. Conclusion #2, and imo the more likely conclusion knowing what we know about the rest of the expansion pack - it is some sort of refit that gets rid of the missile launcher tubes and gives the A wing a sensor upgrade.

This would continue the recent theme of trading 1 slot for another (Astro -> EPT, Title -> PT, Title -> Crew, Title -> Mod, Missile -> Sensors). It would also be a perfect use of Enhanced Scopes + Arvel. And it would also keep the Chaardan Refit from being an auto add - do you want 2 extra points, or do you want a sensor slot? It would also keep Arvel from being overpowered in the sense of "let me shoot ordnance at you at R1 and you can't do jack about it." Well, I guess he can currently do that, but it's much harder to execute. It could be useful to put AdvS on A wings, especially since they can PTL / DD to gain a stress, and then do a green to clear it off, so they'd never be sitting on a stress.

But those are just my thoughts - what do ya'll think the flipped down card could be?

Title card: green leader, unique- may only be equipped by PS 3 or higher.

"You may consider your boost action as a Manuever"

Reusable missile? Like a harpoon? Spear that shuttle and enjoy the ride! I would like the missile magazine idea since in the computer game their whole deal was was carrying 12 concussion missiles.

On a random note I'm really happy that now we'll finally be able to use Arvel effectively with an EPT, and what you suggest about some sort of advanced sensors equivalent would be great there. He's one of the pilots I always want to use but never do.

Its a third Proton Rocket

Can't be a title. The back of the card is a missile logo.

Why do you think that? None of the other cards have 3 copies. Plus, they've never fully spoiled something in the initial release.

Modification: Missile Magazine. Instead of discarding your missile after use, you may receive 2 stress tokens to retain it. You may not use this ability if you have any stress tokens.

See above - we know that it fills the missile slot. And currently the only thing with 2 missile slots is the bomber.

There are 3 Flechette Torpedoes in the Transport Pack. Why 3? I don't know.

So I guess there are 3 Proton Rockets in the Rebel Aces pack. This would be cool.

I'm leaning toward a third Chardaan Refit.

Because this makes most sense ... most ppl have already 2 A-Wings and so 3 Chardaans would be fine.

You can have now 6 A-Wings in a squad? ... Well you need 2 Rebel aces then, together with your 4 A-Wings.

This makes most sense.

its a third Chardaan Refit card.

Oh I know man I was just doing a "wishfull Thinking" remark. I'd love something that allowed you to re-use ordinance. The idea that bombers cannot hold two bombs for example... is kinda ridiculous. If we added a method to "reload" them over time IE by removing stress 1 each turn, then perhaps this could be achieved.

But in all honestly it is probably a Chardaan Refit. That would have more use, IE fielding 3 cheap A-Wings.

Its either a third chardaan refit, Or it was just a aesthetic thing they added and isn't really an actual card. Have they done this in other teaser packs and then revealed it later on like with imperial aces.

Like ive said before tis just a waiting game lets see how fast 6 months fly by.

Either of the two. It's not another new card for sure.

This was my gut feeling too. You can still only get 5 A-Wings in a 100 point list even w/ the refit and requiring people to purchase 3 Rebel Aces packs to put it on all 5 seems excessive.

I absolutely plan to purchase 2 Rebel Aces based upon what I know is included. It would be disappointing to be 1 card short after that.

It's definitely not just for show. The preview says there are 13 upgrade cards in the expansion. I just assumed it was a third Chardaan Refit since it's on the other two. Just like how PTL was displayed in Imperial Aces. I actually think it's pretty amazing that they are providing two of everything else. They usually only provide enough for the ship(s) included but in this case they are providing extra for us. Very cool!

You can actually fit 6. So 3 seems logical.

My guess would be a converter from missile to system, use able by any faction.

It's probably just concussion, homing or cluster missiles, and nothing to get overly excited about.

Clearly it turns Arvel into a missile so they made it take the missile slot!

Missed the back having the missile on it part.

I hope it's a third refit.

It seems really weird to me that they'd turn it down then rather than just leaving it face up. If it's not something new you'd just be stirring up hopes to disappoint people and there's little to gain by it.

So I did a bit of digging, and they've only left something flipped down 3 times before... Once each for the large ships, and then for imp aces. Imp Aces was the 2nd PTL card, the other two are still unknown. But even with the Imp Aces, they only provided two of everything. This would mean 3 of 1 card, that only 1 ship in the pack can use.

I'm going on record saying that I'm confident that it is NOT a 3rd refit card. Which would make it an unique missile, which I'm thinking if a missile -> systems card.

I'm going with 3rd chardaan refit, since it is right there next to the other two.

I do like the idea though of a different kind of refit so that the chardaan refit isn't an auto include.
