Hero & Monster collections disappointing?

By Maelora, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Light Bright just don't... some people clearly have some issues and have to be more saint than a Pope.

(There are to many white male warriors! We want women! WTH?)

Frankly I would be happy if the heroes from Mists of Zanaga were finally released into Descent 2nd edition. It bugs me that all other Runebound figures are playable...except for the ones from Mists of Zanaga (and technically Midnight).

Well, another bunch of spiders is obviously redundant, as for the female characters... women are just weaker and there are simply more male heroes in the world :P

lol, come on that was funny!

Not really, no. It was the utter definition of trite: sarcastic or not, it's an overused sentiment lacking originality or freshness. Not funny, and anyone who thinks so is only encouraging blatant sexist behavior. Maybe you don't think so, but it sets an example that others may pick up on, and I personally feel that our community should hold itself to higher standards. If you want to make jokes, you're going to have to try harder to be actually funny instead of using a subset of the community as a target of the joke. Regardless of whether you personally agree or disagree with the sentiment of the joke, that type of joke creates an environment of alienation, and if you didn't realize that before, hopefully you do now and can hold yourself to a higher standard.

Are you Spock? You sound like Spock.

I'm a little confused to what this topic is about seems like two going on.

Topic #1 No I can't wait for these i don't own CK. and I wouldn't own it with the price of the minis. Plus these minis are awesome! Oh and I don't like CK anyway.

Topic #2 Ill ask wife. She says just ignor people like that if it bothers you. She also said everybody has a different since of humor, so what is funny is defined by them personally. She also said it wasn't funny to her but she isn't judging him.

This got a chuckle out of me.

yes maybe they will fin their way into the next sets. would make sense. lions are cool.

well they could remake some heroes in a runebound 3rd edtion which will be coming sooner or later. lets see.

that is wishfull thinking.

yep i know. sometime you just have to optimistic. life get very dull otherwise.

I wonder how much all this plastic is going to add up to? $400 + ?

If you have the Conversion Kit and some imagination, about $20.

I would say those are a little bit disapointing becouse they bring almost nothing new for players that have Descent 1e minis and Conversion Kit. Those would have more value if they would introduce new Heroes and Monsters not remake the old ones. But from the announce You can think that in the future it is very likely to see completly new Heroes and Monsters it those boxes.

Cheers

I thought they main idea was to give people who didn't have 1st edition (like me) chance to get all the goodies from it. It's near impossible to get it now after all and there is so much content that lots of folks are missing, including some basic/powerful monsters and heroes.

To be honest, I wish the hero & monster collection focuses on bringing the old stuff back first. There is plenty of new stuff for 1st edition veterans coming out anyway.

I would rather see new Heroes & Monsters them remakes in H&MC.

And when it commes to Runebound 3e, I heared a rumour or more like a wish from some fans but I don't see it to be true. Why FFG should make Runebound 3e? If they would ever produce it then it should be revolutionery new game with new mechanics and so on not a remake. Besides they have Descent which is far better and when Co-op version will come then it will be even better the it is now and will be very similar to Runebound.

FFG confirmed at GAMA 2014 that they will be contunueing co-op moduls for Descent. Forgotten Souls is just the start of this line. And if the will keep it evolving then I see even a co-op campain mode with travel events.

The future of Descent is looking interesting, We can be sure tha GenCon will bring a lot of news.

I never played 1e but I'd much prefer they come up with new ones. The conversion kit is almost the cheapest thing in the game that you can buy and you can use any number of solutions in place of the actual miniature.

I'm actually glad they are re-doing the monsters, the balance of the conversion kit monsters seems poor at best.

honestly i like the heroes and monster collection. I got the oath of outcast and my only gripe which is minor is i wish Trenloe looked more like his old artwork but his new hero ability is great! Waiting for Nanok the blade! hope they can try to make him look more like Conan the cimmerian :)
