What Proton Rockets are!

tl;dr they will mess you up BAD.

We're going to be throwing these on Defenders, A-Wings, perhaps even Z-95s. But if The Imperial players want a cheaper missile delivery platform, they can look no further than the TIE Advanced for this one. Hell, pair it with Stele and you've got a nasty thing on your hands.

This is the counter to the corvette.

Lol. I'm so angry right now. I thought you actually knew.

You did spark my interest though.

What if they were 2 Attack, but did three damage per hit that got through.

That would make them seriously dangerous to slow, low evade ships, while leaving it very hard to hit faster ships.

What do you guys think?

bet on a five roll of damage die. Perhaps six. These are the most destructive fighter carried weapons in the series of which this miniatures game takes its name from. These will be KILLERS of YTs, HWKs, and transports.

I was thinking along the lines of the turbo laser upgrade in the corvette preview, double the targets agility.

Remember. These are not agile weapons. They are big and slow, but hurt a lot. Like Warhammers.

Yes. And giving them 5-6 damage dice will make them killers of everything from YTs to Tie Ints. So that can't be the solution. I think ForgottenLore's speculation about doubling agility makes far more sense.

There, fixed.

Well shoot, I forgot all about them.

Or something like you may need to keep a target in arc for two successive turns - **** near impossible against an agile target but super easy for something big, dumb and slow. Or ion'd.

Which is also where the ion missiles come in. They can disable Falcon sized ships if they hit.

Perhaps it rolls a lot of dice (5/6) but doubles the agility of the target? Makes it more effective against less agile ships.

Edit: apparently missed the post where someone suggested this >_< I need to sleep it seems...

Yepp ... I loved them.

If you released them too early, they missed their target or they got shot on their way. If you released them too late - i think your ship got damaged from the blast.

So maybe the Proton Rockets will be Range 1-2 and have a R1 blast. In this case Rhymer would come in handy for a R3 Proton Rocket alpha strike.

did u guys just read what proton rockets are and who used em in what kind of tie variant ?

marek stele in his tie avanger well could be a spoiler i cant wait to happen ^^

Didn't have to check, I must've loosed about a 1000 of them at various capital ships and shot about a 1000 more in the games.

A regular fighter should be able to fly circles around them but the heavy stuff is in for a pounding, I like how this game can totally open up with small additions and not only rely on new ships. This will keep the old stuff relevant as well.

And considering it is being included in Rebel Aces perhaps it can give us an idea of what they may be planning for the Imperial huge ships as well.

I think atk 6 (all focus are crits) range 1 and doubles the defense value of defender cost 5.

Only bad thing about this is it truly can hurt most defense 1 ships and can threaten even defense 2 ships.

Attack 4, range 1.

Attack (Target Lock): Spend 1 focus token to perform this attack against 1 ship. Small ships double agility vs this attack. No one may reroll or modify any attack dice. If this attack hits the target ship then cancel all dice results. Then roll 6 attack dice and apply damage to target ship as indicated.

Pretty sure this is going to have a mechanic that allows it to bypass shields, similar to the proton bomb.

If so it'll be the death of the B-Wing

If Proton Rockets produce critical hits (and bypass shields), Maarek Stele finally finds his way into the game!!!

You can see on the rocket that you don't spend the lock to make the attack, you just discard the card. I think the missile will be short range 1-2 and will do 3 attack dice that will bypass shields. Cost will be 5. This is my guess.

Also I have a feeling it will synergize w merek stele (fluff wise he is an expert with this rocket) allowin him to just chose which critical damage cards to put on your ship. So i have a feeling it will be more like the proton torpedo and just turn all focus results into critical results and be either atk 5 or 6 and range 1.

So I think Rhymer and Stele will profit from the 'Rebel Aces'.

Could be a mix of the increased crit ability of the Proton Torpedo and the more potent potential of the Advanced. Maybe it flips ALL eyeballs to crits, or blanks to crits, something along those lines.

I could imagine something like attack 3 (or even 2), if you land at least one uncancelled hit or crit, deal X additional damage (X being whatever amount they deem "fair")

not of great use against high agility craft, but can really mess up a low agility target or capital ship

Almost, you are forgetting the heavy proton bomb. I used to keep track of capital ships by how many of those it took to kill one, neb b went down to four.
