Under a Black Sun adaptations.

So, for my 40th birthday this weekend, my awesome wife arranged for us and my gaming group to go to a resort for the weekend for my own personal mini con. Rpgs, board, card games with our little 'con suite' and everything. Awesome.

Anyway, I'm going to run UaBS for my part. I was wondering if anyone has run it with the beginning happening before the escape, ie, did anyone run the original break in?

I'm trying to decide if I want to run it with our groups regular characters (8 in the crew), or with the pregens. I know they have backstories that fit into the adventure. I grabbed 2 from Enemy of my Enemy (sorry I can't remember the author to credit them atm) the Force Sensitive and the Gand Tech. As far as the Wookiee and Trandoshan beating the living frak out of each other, I think I'm going to say they each have a bomb in their head: if either dies or gets too far out of range Kablooey, thanks to someone sickideas of a joke or something.

Okay Warsies(?), whadda y'all think?

I had a lot of little adjustments for this adventure, but I didn't think to run the break-in, that's a great idea. I had a very Shadowrun-style environment setup for the tower encounter but my players bypassed and skipped that whole section. The one notable thing I did do was modify the adventure so it takes places on Nar Shadda, so I didn't have to have Force Sensitives or Wookiees running around on Coruscant. Because :) Happy Birthday!

I don't have any specific feedback except to say your wife is awesome and that is the greatest gift ever!

Very cool :)

Regarding the Wookie and Trandoshan thing, keep in mind Tray'essek's back story. He has no clan other than the members of the party and he is fiercely devoted to them. Whatever issues their races have, those two individual see past all that and support one another because to do otherwise would only risk the safety of the group. You don't need to resort to putting a bomb in their skulls to get them to work together.

In other words: Enmity is a luxury that neither of them can afford.

If you use additional pre-gens, make sure to script in obligation triggers for them. I gave one additional pre-gen an Addiction obligation triggered by the casino—she was addicted to gambling which really proved interesting. If you end up writing up the initial break-in scenario you could have one pre-gen's obligation create complications. Maybe they find out that an uncle or cousin secretly works for Black Sun and they spot each other.

I didn't like the Rodian's obligation being way at the end—it seemed as if the module writer wanted you to have a firefight with the police after you just finished with the boss. I kinda just wanted to have the climatic final battle actually be the final battle. If you play out the initial break-in, you could have someone in Black Sun "leak" some security video footage to the police, trigger the Criminal obligation then, and make the Act I chase scene much more interesting by making the PCs have to escape the Black Sun thugs chasing them while also evading police droids.
