rebel ace pilot speculation

By AtomicFryingPan, in X-Wing

After doing some heavy squinting it looks like the 2nd a wing pilot is Sila Kott. She flew as red 3 in the battle of endor was killed by interceptors. Lol but I could be totally wrong because the more I look the less sure I am! Can't make out the b-wing at all. Any famous a and b wing pilots out there that they may also use? Ace Azzameen is still unused.

Hard to tell, but I don't think I see anything resembling Ace Azzameen in those cards.

Yeah just trying to get some ideas of pilots in the eu who flew A's and B's that might fit the bill. That a-wing looks like a 3-4 letter first name.

I did post this yesterday:

Good year for X-Wing I see, though still waiting for Imperial Aces here. Keyan Farlander's ability is great I may have to defect to the Rebellion. Hard to see in the images and I'm sorry if it's already been covered but the PS 5 B-wing may be Palso Thern http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Unidentified_B-wing_pilots_(Endor ) I can make out a 'P' and 'a'. There also seems to be proton rockets maybe.

Good job FFG.

But it got lost in a certain debate. However someone noticed that the promotional image has changed and I think the b-wing pilot has changed.

It might be worth noting that we already have Tycho Celchu and Arvel Skynyrd Crynyd, and Jake Farrell have already been spoiled--and all three flew with Green Squadron at Endor.

I think I may have too much spare time:

A B-Wing pilot from Dagger Squadron called Nera Dantels ( http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Dagger_Squadron ) may fit the new promotional image of the PS5 pilot.

I think you're exactly right! Good find. I'm pretty sure the prior name they had up was Callen Troyt too, but i guess they didn't want a Falleen Pilot lol.

And it also looks like the PS 5 A-wing pilot is/could be Gemmer Sojan http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Gemmer_Sojan

Who was in Green Squadron at Endor, as well as being in Rogue Squadron after Hoth

Yeah it's a perfect fit!

Rock'in the new avatar!

I agree that the PS5 A-Wing is Gemmer Sojan . He was Green Two at the Battle of Endor and destroyed the Imperial battlecruiser Pride of Tarlandia, according to Wookieepedia.

The change of image throws up an interesting thought: FFG have spoiled that there will be 4 unique pilots in the new set, Keyan and Jake have been spoiled by FFG and there are now 4 possible pilots left (one for each ship) of which 2 will be chosen. I don't know how far into development they get but it must be safe to assume that all of them have had their skills created.

With all that in mind will the 'extra' pilots be used in future expansions or binned? I'd go with some future expansions and I'd be quite happy if they were packs of pilot cards and upgrades.

Is it odd to anyone else that the "best" awing pilot wasn't green leader? Probably because many of the characters were created after the movie but just the same couldn't they have made the guy who crashes into the executor not the leader of the squadron. I mean, from the game and what I understood previously he wasn't ever considered a virtuoso in the cockpit. Especially compared to Tycho and now Farrell.

Just the same as Red Leader is not the best X-wing.

This is exactly what I thought. It's really strange that FFG would change the name of a pilot. If they had just fixed some lines of text on the ability, I wouldn't have thought twice about it. But changing the name entirely means A) there was a problem using that character or B) they have multiple pilots made and decided that this one was a better fit for this expansion.

Very strange. And why?
