I haven't purchased any expansions yet. Is there anything wrong with purchasing the Normandy expansion before/without the Days of the Fox expansion? As in is the early expansion needed to to play Normady ? Or Normady lacking something if I don't get Days of the Fox first?

I do not think there are any major reasons. All you realy miss out on are a few AT, some PzIII and the british armor, and some Speciality tokens. Though you will miss out on the Strategy decks too. The german Air-support, and the british Renforcements, might come in usefull elsewhere.

The Normandy expansion is less of an expansion and more of an extension of the base game. It allows you to play more of a campaign type game with the base set. The Normandy expansion does not require you to have DotF

The only things you will lack are new types of units such as the ATs, new classes such as scouts, a new nation joining the fray (British), and more variety in terms of cards and units...but they are not required to play with the Normandy expansion.

I think each expansion will be semi-standalone in that you will only be required to have the base set to play and the Designer Series will be the products that will bring multiple expansions into play.

Several, though not all scenarios in that **** book, are so badly writen and even worse balanced, that it makes you cry. Do not know who playtested them, but I personlay think nobody did.

i picked up Normandy but do not yet have DoTF. At least one of the scenarios includes the British Bren Gun Carriers which are not in the Normandy set. I suppose that you could borrow a couple of American halftracks as standins to play the scenario though. Me, well...I am going to go out and get the DoTF set here in the next couple of weeks so it won't be an issue anymore.

You can play Normandy fine with just the base game without a problem.

DotF *is* an excellent expansion which adds a few elements not in Normandy (AT guns, British tanks, early-war German armour etc) and you do need it to play about 1/3 of the scenarios in the Designer Series book.
