His ability says you may change one of your [eyeball] results to an [evade] result. If there is no eyeball result his ability doesn't kick in - you can't just randomly pull out a focus token and then transform it into an evade token, no.
Sorry but, no. Luke's pilot ability turns one rolled focus to an evade.

Sorry, man. I know some abilities work kind of the way you suggested, but Luke's is pretty cut and dry.

That would be a truly powerful ability for a pilot.
'You can discard focus token as if it were evade tokens'...
a hard one to destroy only, like the Hawk with the moldy crow the focus could get more and more useful.
