Can We Be Done Freaking Out Now?

By Bohrdumb, in X-Wing

I'm still not seeing how Jake or Keyan are any stronger than any other ship we have seen in the game so far. Jake will be slippery, but so are Inteceptors. Keyan sheds stress easily for an offensive boost, but he is still a B-wing that goes down to combined fire. Some of the combos people are talking about, you might as well just upgrade to a Falcon.

It was very sarcastic, but it was a counter to your statement.

You have already made up your mind that the, 1 day ago previewed, Rebel Aces contains overpowered elements. You've come to that conclusion with no play-testing. Do I really have to show you how that statement is wrong? It's a statement made with no backing behind it. It's invalid on the face of it.

And exactly the type of statements the OP was asking to stop. Knee-jerk reactions with no practical foundation.

Unless the preview Wedge at 10 points, there is no foundation for declaring anything overpowered with no play-testing, let alone a day after only some of the contents/pilots/upgrades have actually been shown

Sadder still when you look around and realize that probably half the people on this forum never had an opportunity to see the Original Trilogy in the theatres, and all they know is that Greedo shot first.

But Greedo did shoot first, lucas said so!

I too don't think the new B-Wing is a big deal. Oh sure it looks great! But my Jonus Bomber list makes mincemeat of B-Wings fairly quickly, usually dropping a B or X after one round of fire. And another one on the following pass. Go ahead and run a 30+ point B-Wing my Bombers don't mind! :)

Well my apologies for my knee jerk reaction.. guess the sarcasm was lost on me.. the written word often loses the inflection of the spoken word

As to what I stated, I stand by it.. I've been playimg games of this sort since the 80s and I can see overpowered issues when I see them, and I'm not alone in this view. I also stated that there may still be some changes coming as they have already broken tradition by changing a couple items already..

My comment was an attempt to give a view of why people are having issues with this release information, and my personal view tht it comes as bad timing.. we have barely gotten the Imp Aces in ournhands and here they are giving the rebels some crazy abilities that nerf many imperial ace pilots, even mimicing imp abilities... kindmof a let down and stealing the thunder of a new release...

Honestly it doesnt take a rocket scientist to understand the implications of the new release of rebel aces.. any experienced gamer can form an educated opinion fairly quickly.. of course the rebel players are excited, they get all thos cool stuff... their enthusiasm overlooks what the expansion does... looking at it from the other side I see it differently.. I obviously see it as slightly OP..

Yeah, he also said the force was found in people with microscopic bacteria inside of them. Lucas was too much like a kid in a candy store when he released the prequels (and the special editions for that matter). Just because you CAN change something doesn't mean you should..

I agree totally here, to have gone back and changed certain aspects of the movies was a bad idea... I dont care that he did them originally... there are scenes you remember as chracter building.. like Han ruthlessly killing Greedo.. it told you the kind of character Ben and Luke were dealing with...

What would we all think if they decided that destroying an entire planet sent a bad image to kids, and they did something else... like put a shield around the planet and kept an eye on the Alderaan peoples comings and goings... same concept really.. it changes the ideal of what the empire is... so did making Greedo shoot first.. and seriously.. who is that bad a shot that they cant hit someone right in front of them.. it's not like Han kicked him to throw off the shot..

What would have been REALLY interesting is if they had used the original script for Empire. In the scene where C3PO gets blown to pieces by the stormtroopers and is about to go into the trash incinerator, originally, Darth Vader was supposed to pick up his head and crush it. That would have been all sorts of odd, having the creator crush the skull of his creation.

Didn't know about that.. that would have been interesting, and harder for Chewie to fix.. lol

He never said that was where the Force was found , but that the microscopic bacteria became a conduit for the Force.

Midichlorians =/= the Force, they are channeling devices (creatures).

I think vorpalsword figured out how to stop all the raging.

"I'm so angry right now! Broken game! Unfair release sched...oohh, Slave Leia pics. I'm calm now."

I wouldn't be surprised if the ships chosen for Rebel Aces are ships that there is a surplus of at the manufacturer. I doubt that's the case, but I love a good dose of conspiracy. I'm sure what is ordered is made.

Based on the different paint schemes, I would doubt that to be the case.

LOL to those who freak out and to those who try to stop it in these posts!

You know, with all the rebel stuff being announced and spoiled, is FFG going to spring Imperial stuff on us unannounced as a surprise? SWX23 up to SWX28 are unknown and SWX29 is Rebel Aces.

Plenty of room in there for some imperial stuff and an accessory or two.

That way they can support both factions: those who want to see what's coming and are eager and excited and those who wish to be surprised.

My mom and dad took me to ROtJ when I was 1 year old.

I agree this is a likely possibility.

or the gap from SWX23 to SWX28 is just to mess with us. ;)

or (more boring), those were/are the id numbers of other planned expansions, which were trashed or just moved back in the time line compared to the first draft, happens often enough in production processes when keeping the ID unique and continuous is more important than numerical order.

My bet is they are the big imperial ships. Surprise release at the gencon

Can we be done freaking out now?

Are you kidding? I've been given glimpses of Epic play, wave four and Rebel Aces. Yet, none of these are in my greedy hands yet. Sure, the arrival of Imperial Aces soothed my instant gratification mode for a day or two, but now I'm totally back to freaking out about Chinese holiday disruptions, slow boats loosing cargo bins or out right sinking and the order that my pre-orders were taken in!!!!!

<runs screaming and flailing his arms wildly above his head out of the forum>

ultimate sadness is that by the time pixar/Disney gets around to releasing the new movies we will be dead....

2015?

Now, now, you don't know Swedge's life situation. Maybe he's a stormtrooper in a scene with main Rebel characters or simply wearing a tie while Wedge is around.

I'm so done freaking out that I'm about to start freaking out again!

You don't have to worry about Chinese holiday disruptions anymore, the major one is the Chinese new year and it has been over for more than 1 month... ha ha... they should be on schedule... unless they started to invade other countries. :P
