Rebel Aces

By Wookie Hunter, in X-Wing

My thoughts are mixed. But I am dissappointed that its not just A-wings. B-wings are already too good. Why give them even more love as they sit at the top of the pack. A-Wings, arguably the worst choice for a competitive squad really deserves the upgrade. Why not X-Wings instead? I cant say this pack makes me happy as the B-Wing craze is just getting more solidified.

Ive seen some crazy wins from an awing. Play the game more and you might have a new perspective on them

This. I've had many games come down to my lone a-wing (frequently undamaged) because my opponent ignored him all game. IMHO, I think the awing is as good as any rebel closer and with the addition of opportunist even more so. You now have a ship that has the BEST dial in the game that hits as hard as a B/X. I'll take it.

Interesting. Crew in an expansion pack where none of the ships can carry crew. I'd say this is a first, but the Tantive IV doesn't really seem to be able to use C-3PO either, even though it can put him on board.

There are 2 copies of an upgrade in this set that give a B-wing a crew slot, so one of the ships inhere CAN take the crew.

Yeah question now is if it will cost them there sensors slot or not??

Why would it?

The card text is really pretty short and almost certainly says only that your upgrade bar gains the crew icon.

They did it with the -2 cost card for the A wing, it takes the missile slot..

But we can see that the card granting the crew slot doesn't have an icon for the type, so it has to be either a title or a modification, and the text in the article says there is a b-wing title, so we know it is a title. The card itself doesn't take up a systems slot and there isn't enough text on the card to remove it manually.

Basically, since the card was identified, there hasn't been a reason to think it took a systems slot.

I just want to put PTL, advanced sensors, and Chewbacca crew on that bwing, See how long it takes my opponent to rage so hard blood literally shoots out of their eyes.

LOL, I misread your comment the first time, thinking that the crew upgrade takes a missile slot (or torpedo), so if all things fail, you could just jettison the crew as a missile/torpedo for extra damage! Kyle with his Jedi mind tricks will be some special missile/torpedo indeed.

Y's and A's need fixing, I hardily think the B deserved this treatment.

Still, It's a nice set. I don't know how I feel about it all yet, but let's be honest I'm probably going to get one XD

Though I do think the Y did need to be in this pack, the B really does need some useful named pilots.

The two we have are good but so many points that they don't get used.

the x-wings are all ready getting a prototype... the Z-95.. but i do agree about the "B" it should be the "Y" getting a crew slot!

I'm just getting sick of all the Rebel stuff they make and that they don't do Imperial stuff as much or as cool. They've already got the transport and the tantive, now aces to match Imperial aces and a negative point cost card!? What the hell man?

With this rebel upgrade, one of the named A-wings can barrel roll....its awesome, i have always dreamed of this....

The rebels get all the love from FFG. that said, they really need to give the Tie-A some loving too....come on guys

Yeah what's up with the FFG rebel love. You would think they love the rebellion , how sick is that . Everyone knows the universe is more beautifull and better off shrouded by the dark cloud of evil know as the empire. The rebels are space hippies :) .....

I think the rebel preview was before we knew the secrets of the phantom for a reason! I believe the phantom will be a game changer.

Remember, the Empire is not evil. We are the only true force for stability, peace and prosperity in this world! Those blasted rebel scum just want to watch the universe burn in an unending war. **** terrorists!

In the Grim Darkness of a Long Time Ago there is only War

Unfortunately I knew the rebels would get all the love when I chose the empire. However, that is part of way I play pretty much entirely empire. I don't mind pushing up hill for a battle honestly. It makes the win feel better. Though, that said , The only 2 rebel ships I own happen to be the B wing and the A wing, so it is like they want me to buy both aces boxes. My fav ships being Squints and Shuttles. If the next Imp aces is a Shuttle and a Advanced, lets say, they have me.

I know bombers are more popular, but I can still dream there will be a shuttle aces box, I think the advanced is just going to be a shoe in for such as it is pretty unloved at the moment.

I'm just waiting for this years Gencon, where FFG will have its nice glass case, and in that case will be a ship, and that ship will be big and Empire grey and everyone will be like "oh yeah, I forgot who had the BIG guns...".

Clearly, Emperor Palpatine was only trying to unite the galaxy in time to fight off the Yuuzhan Vomg invasion.

They definitely would not have gotten as far as they did if the Empire had still been in power.

He was so smart to do it in the way he did though, because even in causing a rebellion, he still prepared the galaxy for war.

Can you imagine if the Vong had shown up when the Republic was still doing it's Pacifist, We have no armies thing?

Unfortunately I knew the rebels would get all the love when I chose the empire.

I just don't get this idea that the Empire are somehow the woebegone underdogs of X-wing minis. The Empire has been a competitive mainstay for almost the entire lifespan of the game, and shows no signs of going anywhere at all. Furthermore, the Empire currently has more releases than the Rebels ; the Transport will even things up, which means the hypothesized "all the love" isn't emerging until Q3 2014 (call me an optimist).

And furthermore, I didn't know until I started hanging out over here again that there were players who identified so strongly with just one faction. I don't understand how anyone can be so personally invested in which side FFG likes better.
