Bwing with crew question

By JJFDVORAK, in X-Wing

The Rebel Aces have 3 title cards for the 2 specific ships, a very focused expansion.

3?

I could understand if you said 2 titles or 4 title cards, but 3?

Sorry, I mean 3 unique types of Title cards; so out of the 6 types of upgrade cards, 3 of them are specific unique Title cards geared towards their specific ship.

I still don't understand? Rebel Aces comes with 2 titles, one for the A-Wing that grants a 2nd EPS and one for the B-Wing that grants a crew slot, with 2 copies of both. Where are you getting the number 3 from?

I think he's trying to say 3 types of upgrades that can only be used on specific ships. Namely Prototype Veteran (A-wing only), Bwing ? (B-wing only), and Chardaan Refit (A-wing only).

C3PO that is all.

C3PO that is all.

Could you imagine being stuck in a B-Wing with C3P0? You're ship should automatically explode.

Buzzsaw B-wings... that's all I got.

I'd bet that the B-wing upgrade for a crew slot costs at least 1, if not 2.

Dont forget the new crew member cards.

I'd bet that the B-wing upgrade for a crew slot costs at least 1, if not 2.

If the crew upgrade costs 1, then a Buzzsaw Blue costs 30, which is pretty comparable to Blue + HLC at 29 (or 31 with Blue + HLC + FCS).

So the question because (because it will be asked)... what would you rather have - a Buzzsaw B wing or a Buzzsaw Shuttle? The shuttle has 2 extra hull, but the B wing has a small base, Barrel Roll, turns, K turns, etc. I'm thinking I'd rather the B wing even though it is 20% more frail. But to be fair, it would also be focused down real fast, whereas the shuttle is rarely target #1.

I thought about this but with Farlander having PS7 I don't know how effective elusiveness is going to be with most things shooting after him

I'd rather have a buzzsaw B-Wing due to maneuverability mostly. Too easy to get behind a shuttle and render it useless.

Still I expect I'll mostly use C-3PO and Chewbacca as my B-Wing crew Members.

Keep in mind that we don't know what restrictions the crew slot will have. It could be a 3-point upgrade. It could have either a minimum or maximum Pilot Skill requirement. A-Wing Test Pilot, Royal Guard TIE and the new EPT R2 all have minimum PS requirements. I wouldn't be surprised if the B-Wing crew slot has an offsetting cost.

That is correct.

The A-wing got 2 different Title cards, Prototype Veteran and Chardaan Refit.

The B-wing got 1 Title card - the crew slot upgrade.

Out of the Title cards, the A-wing got 4 (2 copies of each) and the B-wing got 2 (the 2 copies of the crew slot title), that effectively take up 1/2 of the upgrade cards in the expansion.

Chardaan Refit fills a missile slot. It is not a title, even though it is limited to the A-wing. So, there are only two titles in the set.

Overkill:

-Ibtisam (28)- Deadeye(1)- Recon Specialist(3)- APT(6)- Advanced Sensor(3)- Modif for crew slot(?)

Use focus before moving to get 2 Focus token and then a red maneuver to get a stress so you can reroll a dice, Maybe give him a proton torpedo just because you want to be able to use deadeye from afar

Oh! And don't forget to paint that big red target on him.

Maybe pair him with a Falcon, you still have 55pts -the crew slot modif value.

I see if the tax is 1, 2 points to make white 3 green and red 4 green is worth it.

I doubt the title will cost points for this reason. Look at the previous titles. Any title that adds an action or gameplay benefit cost points. The ones that allow additional upgrades do not, because you then have to pay for those upgrades. For example:

Millennium Falcon, Gain the Evade Action, 1 point

Moldy Crow, keep your focus tokens, 3 points

ST-321, Target Lock any ship on the field, 3 points

VS

Slave 1, gain a Torpedo slot, 0 points

Royal Guard TIE, Take a second Modification, 0 Points

A-Wing Test Pilot, Take a second EPT, 0 Points

So, because it gives you an additional upgrade slot that you have to spend MORE points to make use of, not an immediate gameplay benefit. So, I could be wrong, but it seems likely to me that it doesn't cost any points.

But the R2-D6 droid that grants an EPT costs 1 point, so it'd be logical for it to cost 1 point as well from that. Especially since none of those (besides the A wing) adds any new combination that wasn't really previously available (yeah, I know, you couldn't have stealth + SU or whatever, put you could have SD on a ship with shields, so it's kinda the same thing)

Fair point.

This seemed like it was done as a balancing point so X-Wings wouldn't get too borken.

I could easily see the same thing taking place here. Slapping Nien on a B-Wing to let them get green 3 and 4 straight maneuvers seems extremely strong for just 1 point. The idea of FCS + Weapons Engineer should be pretty cool too.

That might be the best use of a crew on the B wing. The downside to FCS is that it often dies before you get to shoot at it again, or it ends up not in a good position. Given it doesn't kick in if YOU kill it, so it still would be limited, but it would be nice to be able to take a lock on whomever you wanted... *starts pondering*...

Yup. Attack and kill a ship and still get to lock on to another ship. Yes please. Especially if it's for just 5 points. Even 6 would be worth it.

Then I'll rephrase my wording to 'cards used only for specific ships'.

Two combos I'd be curious to see: an EPT-enabled B-Wing with Torpedoes, Deadeye and a Recon Specialist, or Crew Member Chewbacca for an addditional two points of effective health.
