So I was thinking of making a Narnia expansion for Talisman.

So far all I have is Reepicheep and his Rapier .

I am a huge Narnia fan, I read them before LoR. Unfortunately I am not interested in fan made expansions for 4th edition, but I am for 2nd edition. The only fan made material I am using for 4th edition are alternate endings. Also my own future Dragon board I will make for the Dragon expansion, and that's only because I dislike how the Dragon expansion plays normally.

I would like to say I am highly considering the Toad King expansion for 4th edition...

If you decide to do this for 2nd edition Talisman I am highly interested!

I wish I had a second edition copy. Sadly all I have is Third and Fourth. I want to make a Dragon Tower for 4th....the dragon and the tower in 3rd is just awesome IMO.

If I get a 2nd edition one of these days I would probably do it since I am fair Narnia fan myself. Like you, these were the first fantasy books I read growing up. I read the hobbit somewhere in the middle of these books but did not read the LoR trilogy until I was a teen.

The Toad King is appealing to me as well but it just seems a little...weak. I am a big proponent of "sorry, you are dead" cards and creatures. Precisely why there are 2 Horrible Black void cards (the additional 1 from the Timescape) in our hidden deck. Also, there are already 2 creatures prowling the board. But who knows....I already printed up the Toad King....and I have a few toads from BloodBowl..... :-)

I am going to attempt to make an inner region board that will be more fitting for Narnia.....

So, I have 4 Characters now. Peter , Lucy , Edmund and Susan . We have play-tested these twice so far and after tweaking this is where we are.....

Let me know what you guys think so far.

Now on to 4 other Characters and then we will start working on the cards for the adventure deck and another few alternate endings. Our goal here is to make sure all the characters are playable in the game as a stand-alone rather than just as a collective expansion.

A Narnia expansion sounds fun There is certainly no shortage of characters, places and events from the books which would transcribe to Talisman well. I play 2nd edition (although I have 3rd from back in the 90s and a copy of 4th edition which I haven't played once yet!) so would be very interested in playing a Narnia expansion for 2nd edition

Is there any reason why you don't play homebrew for 4th edition at all? I like the idea of endless possibilities or cards that come from using fan made expansions. I have created an expansion myself for 2nd edition which I am really enjoying and must say that 2nd edition homebrew's really look good and you can get them looking pretty much identical. :-)

I feel that they have done a great job filling out and balancing 4th edition. Only until recently I liked 2nd edition better than 4th. But now that I have all of 4th edition expansions, a wonderful Dragon variant, I think it is near perfect. I love the balance of fate.

At this time I don't want to water down or change the Talisman feel with homebrew, its great as is. I do like the "plug & play" alternate endings that are home made, at least many of them.

I would be willing to try a Narnia 4th edition remake. I wouldn't mix it with Talisman, but a complete re-do would be something I am interested in. As shared there are plenty of places, creatures, characters, and such to flesh out a complete remake of Talisman.

It would definitely need a sea expansion! Narnia Islands would be a must!

Nothing against the quality artwork, but I just can't stand Anime.

Other than the artwork I like the characters tho I think Peter's sword and all the Christmas gifts should be items that can be lost or gained. But each character having the ability to take the item if in the game at any time if it was originally theirs.

Anime is **** awful indeed!

I am kind of bleh when it comes to drawing...in fact, if I were to do it all the cards would look something like this . I was trying to find consistent pictures and anime is not my favorite but I prefer it over photographs.

Anyway, DomaGB, our group thought about and talked towards putting the items in the deck or an additional deck but opted to give them to the characters for a few reasons.

• No one else actually uses the items in Narnia except for the Pevensie's. This is of course barring the Horn which is used by Caspian, so we were putting that into the deck.
• Without the items the characters actual stats would have to be highly inflated so they would not be playable, therefore, one would opt to use a knight or other similar character as one of the Pevensie's.
• Having the items be separate would be much more productive in a stand-alone remake as you say....which may really be the way to go.
• Our main goal was to make everything "general" so it could be used with all characters and expansions.

Other contemplating thoughts were about how do we do this correctly? As just the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe? Or the whole series? We decided it would be best to do it as the first few books since the whole Pevensie family was around for these and to focus more on the Pevensie children rather than the adult kings and queens.

On another note, I acquired the access to a 2nd edition game so I may be making this into a 2nd edition expansion. The cards and boards are much easier to copy from 2nd and third edition since it is basic cardstock and the like....so this may work out better. I am talking to my 2 friends and wife about possibly going this direction, although we will probably finish the 4th edition expansion. We have only play-tested the characters twice, each of us playing 2 of the characters for a total of 8 players on the board. We playtested the alternate ending 5 times now and it proved interesting each time....evil winning 4 out of 5 times but it was close in all the games. The alternate ending is a little long-winded and perhaps a little cumbersome which is my biggest concern but so far it seems to work.

Meanwhile, I need to get a look at Second edition and see if this will integrate better.......

Right now our goals are:

• To have 10 Characters added. The 4 Pevensie children, Reepicheep, Ice Queen Jadis, Maugrim, Nikabrik, King Miraz and Lord Sopespian. ( All but Nikabrik and Sopespian are ready for testing)
• 50-75 adventure cards ( We have about 35 cards completed and ready for testing)
• 4-8 Spells for the spell deck (3 Are completed and ready for testing, 2 are in the works)
• 3 Alternate Endings (1 has been playtested, 1 other is ready to be tested and 1 is in concept)
• 2 Cards for the purchase deck (Dagger and a Rapier; both playtested in their trial runs.)

It was hard to leave out Caspian and a Centaur but being at 10 characters we needed to stop. lol

I have been making homebrew decks from Artscow. I even put other people's Homebrew cards into Artscow decks. If you were to make a game or expansion I liked, and you didn't have an Artscow deck, I would transfer it myself to one.

I have been using the Artscow mini-cards for Talisman, and while they are not the same size as Talisman cards (2nd or 4th edition) they are small and work well.

I would be highly interested in a Talisman remake with Narnia as the setting, and if you are gonna make boards, I highly recommend making boards that actually look like maps. Or a 2nd edition add-on expansion.

Some Homebrew boards look awful. No matter how well they play, an ugly board ruins it for me.

I am NOT an artist or graphic designer, so I decided to use the map editor of Heroes of Might & Magic 3 to create my 2nd Edition Dragon board.

Now I have a board that looks awesome! Without worrying about being a bad artist.
