It's coming out Q3 of this year. That means it's probably the only other expansion besides Nerekhall coming out. The Heroes & Monsters Collections have obviously been playtested to some degree, as there are variations on the Conversion Kit versions.
Manor of Ravens
+ the lieutenant expansions
The expansion production rythm is becoming crazy.
Sad to say, but that element is having me step down from the run.
The rushing out of products can only mean sloppy playtesting, etc.
I would not believe that during the first times I had the game.
But now, it simply is humanly impossible for FFG to do nothing else but spill cardboard and plastic as you serve beer in a bar.
While I agree that they are pumping out content very quickly, I have to disagree with your other conclusions. Unless you're actually part of their development team, and or involved in the game testing, I'm not exactly sure how you're coming to those conclusions. FFG has done nothing in the past to not warrant the benefit of the doubt with their products. I will reserve judgement until I actually get my hands an Shadows of Nerekhall and Manor of Ravens. I can't wait for either!
You also don't know how much playtesting has gone on before they even announce these products. They've gotten a lot better at knowing their own game since they initially released it.
just three to four months. don`t take all the sleeping pills at once though.
I'd say 5-7 months. I think this one might be available early at GenCon, but the actual release will be October.
i guess you are right.
But i'm not an american, so I think as last year, I will find nobody to take one for me, and I will be really disapointed !
there's one sure thing : I will never be fed enough !

I could know much more than you would believe. You also don't know how much playtesting has gone on before they even announce these products. They've gotten a lot better at knowing their own game since they initially released it.
As you could not. And whatever, i don't care, only the time between each extension really care, i want it to be as short as possible
Rugal. Buy me a ticket to France and I will bring you a translated copy on release day. You don't even have to sleep with me!

A bit pricey to me, but I can welcome you if you want to se France, even more with a Manor of Ravens !
I am honestly not sure how you can come to the conclusion that the fast pace is causing sloppy playtesting. After all, there WERE no expansions when the base set came out, and the rules to that are ridiculously sloppy and badly written... like most FFG games. People don't buy FFG games because they expect meticulously put together rulebooks. They buy them for the licenses or for the fun games, but most people who have played FFG games know that they're going to have to work to figure out the rules.
The fast pace IS causing people to burn out on Descent, but it's not causing the playtesting to be worse. It can't get worse :-)
No, lots of products is a good thing. Makes it feel like they are supporting the game, makes it feel alive rather than neglected.
If you don't want the expansions, the game plays fine with the basic set.
Me, I'm getting it all. The more the better.
I can understand the apprehension some folks have. True, lately descent products do seem a bit like cash-in (I'm looking at you lieutenant packs), but what some folks seem to miss is that expansions don't depent on one another. That means you do have a choice when it comes to buying them, some themes might suit you more then others after all. I just wish they'd make lieutenant packs for campaigns, not every one of them on it's own, but I guess they sell too good for that. Oh well

Seeing the Hero & Monster collection thread you made, I guess MoR heroes are just what you were asking for, gotta say their concepts are a welcome change.
Take em or leave em, but MicroTransactions are everywhere, even board games. Yes, I believe that the lieutenant packs are micro transactions, and I think its a fine business model as it lets me choose what/how much I want to own. Granted I want to own it all as I hope to teach this game to my kids when they're older.
With every expansion FFG has improved on the quality on all fronts. From the tiles to the miniatures, from the quests to the items and classes, every new component breathes new life into this game. With all the extensive feedback we give them (whether through email, through the forums here or through the BGG forums which I know they visit on occasion) they keep building and improving this great game. The quests from LoR are leagues more balanced than the quest from the Shadow Rune campaign (and even then, imho they're fine with small hiccups here and there and not expecting perfection). Honestly I can't wait to see what Shadows and Manor will be like.
Also they have great customer service. I had bought the Raythen Lieutenant pack and not thinking about it I cut the package a little too low and cut part of the Raythen hero card. I sent them an email asking if they could replace it, even offering to pay for the card. They sent me a replacement free of charge.
I like it. I want to own aswell all expansions. I dont care much about lt or the monster collections. I just buy the small and big expansions. I think that fine enough
I hope the house itself will interact or something like this? traps? what you think?
Random trap tiles would be really cool actually.
Quote: [..] "they will face deadly danger, and if the house itself comes awake, can any hero hope to survive?"
but whats weird its more expansive then the other small expansions. more stuff? or just more expensive?
This expansion is looking good. Especialy the new map tiles that will give the manor rooms. We have a lot of wildlands and dungeons now but more building will be fun. Also the new Ovelord classes are looking interesting. The new monsters - bandits are a nice suprise becouse we still have so few humanlike enemies.
It looks like this should be avaliable in July.
Cheers
Beren
Yes its more expensive. I saw this. Maybe because there are two OL decs in it? would be stupid.
All small boxes are expansive now, go see it in the market.
The question is "why" ?
Why?
Among the factors there could be the fact that FFG now has a customer base among which there are enough completists who like the game so much that they will buy every single expansion, whatever the price.
Rather a good news for Descent and for FFG.
Inflation could also be at work, the world has been hitting those printing presses very very hard afterall.
Edited by BentoSanYeah, it can be easy to underestimate the rising costs of printing large quantities of plastic miniatures, packing, etc. and shipping them overseas, combined with variable currency conversion rates.
