Pre-release FAQ 4-17-09

By YourBestFriend, in Battlestar Galactica

Hello Everybody!

I am working on an updated FAQ which includes some recent questions in addition to a brand new section which clarifies the secrecy rules.

I have posted an early version here:

If anyone has questions or comments about the new content, please post your coments here,

Last answer on the second page:

A: Yes. There is not limit to the number of times an unmanned
viper may be activated per turn.

"not" should be "no"

Are the specific cards in the discard piles open info? I realize they are placed face up, but should I only be allowed to see the top most card or can I look through all of the discards? (Same goes for any quorom cards removed from the game)

When a player is revealed as a Sympathizer, what happens to the Sympathizer card? Is it discarded or still held in hand. The reason I ask is that if a player is about to get a random Loyalty card revealed to another player, is the Sympathizer one of the 2 (or 3 cards if Boomer/Baltar) that is fanned out. Or would only the 1 (or 2) unrevealed card(s) be the one(s) drawn from?

In the secrecy section under Skill Card Abilities. Can a player announce that they have a potentially relevant card without being previously asked. For example if a player is making a crisis choice, one of which may be a skill check. Can a player announce that he has an Investigative Committee, if the choosing player doesn't ask?

The new secrecy rules seem to cover destination, skill, and crisis decks. What about Quorum cards? Anything specific there or do they fall under the "golden rule" only.

I like the secrecy rules clarifications!

"Q: If the a player is required to choose a character to send
to the “Brig” or “Sickbay,” can he choose a character that is
already there?
A: No. He may also not choose a revealed Cylon player, or
“Helo” before he is on the board (due to his negative ability)"

I would consider rewording the answer to something like:

Additionally, he can't...

The "may also not" is a little awkward, and if there are rules lawyers in a game, they sometimes sieze on the word "may" :)

Nice hefty FAQ update! I like it!
