Rebel Aces!!

By CrookedWookie, in X-Wing

zKeyan Farlander is just flat out ridiculous. Lose a stress token for a focused attack? Give him opportunist or PTL and it's a joke. That better be a "gain a stress" and it starts being reasonable.

Advanced sensors lets you focus prior to a red maneuver for 3 points, and you can use it on defense.

Powerful, sure... but the jury's still out on 'broken.'

Advanced Sensors is already somewhat on the border of "too good for the points," so you're really snowballing the B-Wing into elite company by giving it both. Plus access to Crew, it appears.

I'll wait on broken, but really abusable, absolutely. At least he's unique, for god's sake.

Nice!!

there we go ladies and gentlemen white k- turns like fatty porkins is showing us cant wait for ti droids doing the same ****

farlander fks me up

I've thought through this and have decided that this is awesome. It makes me feel "funny" inside. Ya know like when you first started noticing girls or went to a petting zoo.

Relax, I'm joking about the girls.

Still, this is way cool. The A-wing possibilities are...wow..alot.

Now that I read through other comments 2 thoughts come to mind.

1. They included the b-wing maybe to give it more options and push the meta away from Adv sensors / B-wing that we have seen everywhere? Does that seem logoical to anyone else?

2. Someone mentioned swarm above and how these aces packs seem to be trying to get the game away from (away from may be a bad phrase) or balance swarm by giving new abilities to other ships? Changing the incentive structure to use other ships?

Question through.

What will they do to TIE Advanced now? Include it in a big empire ship like x-wing in transport (i always thought that would be just a regular TIE)?

Weird.

Not mentioning wave 4, we have:

Rebel Transport + X-Wing with X-Wing pilot(s)

Tantive IV + X-Wing with X-Wing Pilot(s)

and now Rebel Aces with A-Wing Pilots + B-Wing Pilots.

Vs.

Imperial Aces with Tie Intercepter pilots.

Seem a bit off balance to anyone else? I mean, it's cool that they are releasing announcing lots of new stuff, but... I wouldn't mind some more Imperial stuff... even if it is just more pilots for the Imperial ships we already have.

**Edit**

Oops! My bad. The Tantive IV doesn't come with an X-Wing.

So the Rebels only get extra pilots for three ships in two packages, not three.

Better they sit Maarek on a TIE Avenger and give him some kind of ability to stop Farlander....

Great point about the TIE Advanced. They REALLY need to give it some love.

I really hope the Empire are getting some large, transport-type ships and ESPECIALLY more bounty hunters (and TIE Advanced "fixes" for whatever that's worth) with all the new pilots and upgrades the Rebels are getting.

Hrm... Chadraan Refit on a Prototype puts it at 15 points. 5 of them is 75 points. Z-95s are 12 points. So... AAAAAZZ is now a list. At 99 points. :)

I've got to say "no". Giving what is possibly the best ship in the game the best ability in the game is not a way to reduce the use of said ship. Nothing logical about that at all.

I was really hoping for a green A-Wing, but I admit the Ralph McQuarrie blue one is pretty nice. Kyle Katarn and Jan crew cards though! I have to have this. :P

Yea, the nod to McQuarrie is really sweet. Really striking set. Just keeps getting better. Well done!

That took you all of 2 minutes, lol.

Sweet god , the awesomeness will not stop. More give me more!

Kyle Katarn crew! I can't tell who the other one is. Jaina Solo has too many letters to fit.

Er, it's Jan. They included Kyle and Jan was his pilot. So now when running the Crow with either you can have them as a pair. Makes the most sense.

Jan and Kyle crew.... this is so huge. Your Support HWK will now be able to pass focus AND an extra attack die... I'm guessing. wow.

I really doubt Jan and Kyle will just be crew versions of their pilot abilities. None of our examples so far (Vader, Chewie, R2-D2) have duplicated things like that.

No, but they have been similar and I can easily read that Kyle's card does something with stress so at the least they look like they're designed to be paired with their respective pilot cards at least so hopefully the Jan/Kyle combo's will be fun.

Eww, ew ew ew. So evil I want to try it.

Oh just wait till people spend more than 2 minutes thinking about it. Especially once they learn about the PS5 A-Wing/B-Wing and what Jan + Kyle do.

I'm very excited about this announcement.

But who would use missiles on A-Wings after the release? Basically they cost 2 additional points now. 6-7 points for a missile is quite a steep price...

Has anyone questioned if Keyan Farlander can spend a stress and flip over no eyes.

Just wait until whatever playtester was leaking information to you figures out that you're bragging about it on the forums.

If one is willing to purchase... 3 boxes to get the required cards, then yeah. **** expensive swarm.

He didn't say reduce the use of that ship, he said give it more options so it isn't always the same build, making it so there are just ad many b-wings out there but they are different configurations.

Has anyone questioned if Keyan Farlander can spend a stress and flip over no eyes.

Based on existing precedent, he can do exactly that.

So long as he's got an attack to make, he's basically immune to stress. Which seems to be something of a running theme for the Rebels with the last few releases. So much for my fun with Rebel Captive :(

First, the stress-shedding the Rebels are getting feels like a bit of overkill.

Second, the B-Wing getting a Crew slot had better mean the Y-Wing will, too!!!

Third, even though I lean Rebel, I can't wait to see what the Imperial answer to all this is!

Fourth, I saved the best for last, because my real name is Jake and the A-Wing is my favorite ship, and I love Turr Phennir, and I can't wait to run the Rebel version of him:

Jake Farrell (24)

Chardaan Refit (-2)

Veteran Instincts (1)

For a grand total of only 23 points!!!

:D

So, ok, we got Imperial Aces and then Rebel Aces. We got big ships for each faction, and ships from the expanded universe for each faction. There's only one category still asimmetrical:

Huge Ships. We've got the Rebel Transport, and the Corvette but nothing for the Empire.

Wanna see what's next *off to preorder this **** expansion in at least two copies*

Come on, three almost consecutive rebel releases.... The transport, the CR90, and now this..... That's it... I'm officially jealous.

*sigh* Where is the 'order' button?

No doubt where's the imperial gunboat already lol

Keyan Farlander is only 1 pilot... and at a base of 29 is going to eat up a 3rd of your points...

Anyone else think FFG are trying to move the meta away from un-named pilots to taking a mixture of named pilots? The new X-wing and now A and B-wing pilots have some awesome abilities. Maybe they're trying to encourage rebel builds away from swarms?

Either way - more variety can only be a good thing!

Weird.

There's no X-Wing pilots in the Tantive.
