Im Crazy Please Humor Me

By Guitarquero, in X-Wing

dutch - Ion 2x protons, R2-D6, PtL = 40

Horton Salm - Ion, 2 Protons = 38

Blue Squadron Bwing = 22

I know i know putting all your eggs in one basket yadda yadda yadda.

Ive been trying to figure out a way to make ywings effective torp uses besides the fact that torps arent that great. But four of em. 2 a turn. Wowie.

Im not planning on going to worlds or inveting the next big build but i really want to see ywings shine and soon they lll have the ability to take EPT which granted none really suit them except an alpha strike PtlL.

I dont know maybe i sniffed to much glue as a kid but target lock with dutch pass it salm salm focus's obv dutch then PtL to focus and fire torps hope for the best. Salm was built for protons.

So some of you will say theyll just get within range one blah blah blah. Thats what the ions are for and the bwing will pack a decent punch with whatever gets close to them. or theyll just destory your yws before they fire which is true i agree. was toying with putting swarm tactics on Horton maybe for ***** and giggles. but id probably have to drop 2 torps.

Anyways discuss amongst your selves dont be shy to call out my Insanity.

Uh, okay: you're crazy. Three-ship Rebel lists tend to struggle in any case, and Proton Torpedoes definitely aren't going to make up the difference. Also, Push the Limit is a very weak choice on a ship with two green maneuvers, both of which are straight.

Basically I'd replace one of the unique pilots (probably Salm) with Gold Squadron, change the Protons to Flechettes, reduce the torpedoes from 2 each to 1 each, and drop the droid and PTL. Then with all those extra points I'd add another B-wing or something.

how about dropping PtL for Fire Control and changing one of the protons to APT. gives you coverage at all ranges, punishes opponents for getting in close, and provides some free target locks.

Using cards available today you could do:

(36) Horton with PT, APT, & R2 astromech

(34) Dutch with PT, APT, & R2 astromech

(30) Garven with R2-D2

You should be able to get all 4 missiles off with TL + F in 2 rounds. Horton and Garven focus, Dutch lets Horton get a TL. Garven fires before Dutch so that Dutch can use his focus.

The R2s help the Ys dogfight after, and R2-D2 helps Garven survive.

Again, maybe not tournament, but quite torpedo capable.

Or, swap Garven for Jan with ion turret. That's 1 less focus being shared, but harder hitting torpedoes.

Have to say I agree with VS that PtL isn't a great idea on a ship with just two green maneuvers to dump that stress. IF you could have added PtL and R2 that would be on thing but when you need that astromech slot to get PtL it just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Completely forgot i made this thread = P.

The point / Idea of the list is to utilize the Ywings capabilities of taking 2 torps. and Now being able to use EPT on their named guys. TBH Ywings dont need to be dog fighting when they have 360 turrets. and yes three ship rebel lists arent going to win Tourneys, Im more of the, lets see what happens x-wing player. Trying to push the limits (One could say) of a ship and make use of there upgrades/Abilities.

(34) Dutch with PT, APT, & R2 astromech

(30) Garven with R2-D2

This is closer to what i am looking for I think i would drop the APT on horton just because it doesn't have synergy with his ability at all.

How about:

Horton - PTx2 and Ion

Dutch - R5-K6 and Ion

Garven - R2 and PT

Focus and TLs abound and plenty of PTs to blow things up! The Ion Turrets will help you set up your shots.
