2nd starter box purchased

By pobolycwm, in X-Wing

Bought the second starter becayse it was cheaper to buy the extras i wanted i take it none of the cards can be mixed with what i already own? .

So its the 3 ships, the measures, die and thats it before i seal the empty box and loft it, in case its ever needed

I got a second recently too, really useful!

Keep the second damage deck, just incase a friend comes around or your first one gets damaged. (Going by this logic, I also kept a second set of asteroids - mine get played alot at our friendlies because I've painted the edges of mine)

Don't forget the pilot cards and the card inserts for the bases. And the shield tokens, of course!

err I got 3 *woops*

But yes 2 is always good for a good price to get 3 more important ships! as X-wings and tie fighters are still some of the most used ships

My second is on the way, along with the other £100 worth I've spent in the last week, can't wait for it to arrive. This weekend is gonna be X-Wing tastic

I find most of the second starter can be used. I say second as I have 4 now :-P

The double up on named pilots can be of use as now you could play tourney rules, you know rebels vs rebels , imperial vs imperial

I can't think of anything in the second box you can't make use out of.

I bought a third, but having the extra bits and ends is great. Having enough stuff for two players to play without having to share parts of the one set is great too.

Thanks for your replies, i feel like that dad on the cartoon strip thats doing th rounds on facebook :D

Instead of a second box, I just bought a second set of dice and will be getting some acrylic templates and range ruler.

I wanted to keep my investment smaller, and I found the dice were really the only thing holding me back.

I bought a second starter set after just a couple games with my 1st. I knew instantly I was hooked in and it's without a doubt a great way to get extra dice and 3 extra ships. These alone made it a bargain purchase and expanded the game wonderfully. I do recommend (when funds allow) at getting 1 each of the X-Wing and Tie Fighter for the cards not included in the starter.

After that for we just bought what we liked the look of, Falcon and Firespray of course and other goodies as and when the wife allowed me to ;)

What I love about the purchases I've made so far is non seem to be a bad choice. All the ships seem to have pros and cons and are very well balanced against each other.

Brilliant.

Just make sure you don't buy a second TIE Advanced. =P

I have 4 core sets.. and 2 unopened (might end up as gifts or prizes) everything is useful in them, and its like getting 2 ships on the cheap.. mine cost 20 bucks each after the first 2. I also have 4 TIE advanced asni like the ship a lot, and it gave me 4 Squad leader cards.

I have ships for both factions as some nights I am the only one with the game, so it helps to have them. I also have a minimum of 4 of each ship out(except the HWK only 2), and 3 shuttles 4 YTs and 3 Firesprays..

TIE fighters (15) and interceptors (10) and bombers (7) are the most numerous due my love of those ships...

So, what one wants is really the end limit to what you get...

I also get extras because I do repaints...

I find this thread interesting. I might pick up the Core Set this weekend and I assumed that having multiples of "named" dudes was irrelevant - I come from a Warmachine/Hordes background where having multiples of the same character models is quite literally pointless.

I take it that's NOT the case here?

oneway, I think you need to increase your imperial stuff a bit more. Might as well go up to 24 fighters, 12 interceptors, and 12 bombers, so you can have a full load out for an Interdictor Class Star Destroyer!

Heck, just rounding out to 24 TIE/ln and you have a full force of a Victory-I Class Start Destroyer.

That's the case in X-Wing, too, really. The only reason to have multiple unique cards is in case you invite a friend to play who doesn't own any X-Wing product, so you both can play the same uniques if desired. That's normally not allowed, but in tournament environements, it is — Luke Skywalker can fight against Luke Skywalker in a tournament, for example.

You can't use multiples of the same named pilots, but each ship comes with multiple pilots and upgrades. It's great because in effect your just buying 1 ship (or 3 in the core) and getting multiple ways of playing it making the tactics and combos you can try really expansive.

@HRM, you can have and use multiples ofnthe ships, but notnthe unique characters/pilots (anything with a dot in front of it)

Khyros, I may do it later, but I need to get a couple more shuttles so I can field a 3 shuttle School district unit.. lol

I have four core sets as well.

First was a Christmas present.

Second was because I wanted more ships... and Target was selling them for $20.

Third and fourth was because Target was selling them for $11.

When I bought the last two, (and like, 5 with it) I was originally planning to give them to friends/family.

After thinking about how much fun a Tie swarm would be, (and that I had 6 ships for the price of 2) I decided to keep two sets.

I currently have one box filled with extra crap that I don't need; damage decks, ID tokens, target locks, unique pilots, instruction booklets, dice, and those little "Buy These Other Products!" booklets.

I can't get rid of said box, because I know that the second I do, I will spill something and ruin my set.

;)

and it gave me 4 Squad leader cards.

You do know that squad leader is a unique upgrade and can only be included in a list once, right?

Interesting stuff. I can see this coming home with me this weekend!

Yes I know, but when I game with people that dont have anything, and the want to run that card, they can... and if we get 2 game going I can supply for 4 different sides if I need too..

I have so much cause others have jone..
