Life rocked face with Idyllic, Friends and Rivals, Battle Disc System, Kunai, Deceptive Look, several now banned Attacks, Whimsy Ibuki's other support. It's ability to aggro and just plain live (in an era when players were not spoiled for ridiculous amounts of damage reduction and life gain). I think the new stuff coming out will make a better symbol. Suffers from a lack of a kill condition now, but that could be said for several symbols.

Life was absolutely ridiculous in block 1 and 2.

Anybody who says otherwise didn't play against it.

The only decks my life decks consistently lost to were Addes Era Evil decks and block 1 void decks.

I didn't mention Widow Maker or Shinobi Tradition. Block stripping and auto-pass everything. Weak.

Anyone ever been hit by a 20+ damage Widow Maker? Thank you very much Shadow Art.

There's also the very subtle instance of Never having a hand after the first attack.

Life wasn't ridiculous at the end of Block 2, where the only decks that had success where those that sported the symbols on BRT.

I didn't just play against it-I played with it. Life Nako beats. Couldn't beat an All/Order/Evil deck to save my life.

I couldn't make a playable deck in Life, and it used to be one of my favorite non-water symbols to try out the 1 week a month I didn't play water.

I'm with NintendoMan. She was very good when CSS was still in the rotation. But once that went, about the rest of Life went with it. Didn't she make top 8 at can nats built like that? Same for Olexa's Vega deck. I'm sure he was running CSS in that 8/23 of a monster.

Yep...Battle Box Sophy and rare Luise were two of the greatest characters ever given the Life symbol (and Bannedbuki).

This thread makes me want to almost run life at our regional this weekend...

I'd say life is a great support symbol, but has to work to stand on it's own or rely on a character ability a bit more than other symbols do at the moment.

What's there to say? Nakoruru is tied with 5Zangief5 for most annoying character to face ever. What most people fail to understand is that her use died after the cycle. She, she was still a busted character, but her symbols didn't get NEARLY the amount of lovin' that other ones did, and that is quite simply why she failed.

Nakoruru wasn't good because of CSS; Life was good because it had CSS. Of course, it didn't matter, because even with CSS, Life never saw play; the deck of the season was All Alex with Concealed as his kill. Sure, you could've ran Life or a Life hybrid utilizing CSS. It's too bad you would've lossed since Life was balls at the time =/

Feel free to disagree and point out how many small-time tournies you may have won with a sheerly life Nakoruru during that time. I'm still going to say that Life was complete garbage in 08, and as of right now, it's currently overshadowed by either Good or Earth in various ways.

Whatever the case may be...

It doesn't help that Set 12, as much as it has Life support, doesn't really support the symbol in any single way. Yi Shan's stuff has Earth, which is clearly superior. Ivy and Lu Chen's stuff only work with themselves (Lu Chen can be stretched with Alex/Ukyo)... and the less said of Tira's stuff outside of Tira, the better, exception maybe a few foundations.
