Next Store Championship Crazy List (Rebel Bombers)

By Englishpete, in X-Wing

So having run 3 shuttles at my first store championship and narrowly missing the top 4 (my own fault due to a brain fart on setting a dial) and reading the RealStarKillers post I am going to run this and prove that Rebel Bombers can get it done

Gold Squadron, Proton Torpedo, Blaster Turret x 3

Gold Squadron, Proton Torpedo

So, am I crazy?

Can this make the top 4?

Let me know your thoughts.

I would worry about action denial and the blaster turret since once you close distance you're going to be doing so many 2 turns to stay in range. How did the 4 interceptor list do, btw?

That has been highly successful, but it hasn't done a store championship yet.

The only lists that are likely to deny me actions are PS1 ships and the swarm is a problem for everyone.

My bigger fear is shooting last.

Ah, I thought you were using those for a tourney. Tried it once and it was a lot of fun, but wasn't a good match-up. Rushed forward on the first turn and then realized that with the second if I went 5 straight and then boosted I could block the enemy bombers and keep them from getting any TLs since he needed to turn.

That makes sense, esp. if you're not going to have academies to worry about. I've just found the Y-wing, at least when I fly it, to almost force predictability unless you just fly off, second star to the right and straight on until morning and all that.

The Ints may well see a tourney, I am just trying to fly for more fun and see if success can be had with what everyone considers subpar ships.

Your a little bit crazy, with this, but sometimes crazy catches people off guard. The Proton Torps will be big for you if they hit hard. If that alpha strike fails, then you will most likely have an uphill battle. Still I would love to see an all Y-Wing squad win one.

I love y wings, but why use blaster turrets instead of ions? With no extra focus generation I think you will find accuracy sub par.

If I use Ion Turrets, I either have to drop a torp and then its not a bomber list or go to three ships, which further weakens the squad.

A three ship squad would be:

100 points

"Dutch" Vander (37)
Proton Torpedoes, Advanced Proton Torpedoes, Blaster Turret

Kyle Katarn (32)
Determination, Blaster Turret, Recon Specialist, Moldy Crow

Grey Squadron Pilot (31)
R2 Astromech, Proton Torpedoes, Advanced Proton Torpedoes

I played against my buddies 3 Y-wing list consisting of:

Dutch, R5, Prot, Blaster

Salm, Blaster, Prot, Prot, R5-D8

Gray, R5, Prot, Blaster

It was very annoying as I was running a smaller imperial build and didn't have any true blockers. However, I think it can do okay. Just hope you don't get blocked which is a little predictable with Y-wings as they love to 2 hard turn. Also, watch out for Carnor Jax of course whenever he shows up.
