I've been a GM for hundreds of Star Wars adventures; all the way from d6 to SAGA. I really enjoy the creative freedom the Star Wars setting offers as a GM. SWRPGs have helped my ability to write by leaps and bounds. I've had a few chances to play as a player especially in SAGA, but didn't really feel the same enjoyment or creative freedom I did as a GM. I had the chance to play a game of Edge of the Empire last week as a player, after I finally convinced one of my players to run an adventure. I gotta say, **** playing this game as a player is just as much fun as being the GM. Between obilgations, the destiny pool, and talent trees I felt my character this time around had a lot more freedom and depth than in the other games I've played. I have to give a lot of credit to my player for GMing of course, they had never GMed a game before that and they did great.
Long time GM, first time player
I've mentioned it in other posts, and it has been brought up before, but this system really tears down the screen between the players and the GM.
When my group agreed to continue playing Core after the BB, I really wanted to create a PC and join the party. It didn't take long for me to realize that I was having just as much fun without a PC, and that I felt like I was more of a part of the table as a group, instead of their fearless (and sometimes feared) leader.
Glad you are having fun on both sides of the screen. There is new stuff to discover all of the time about this system.
