A more correct translation for 'Royal Guard' in german would be Ehrengarde which means Honour Guard or Guard of Honour.
But Red Guard? Because they are red? Pffffff!

that these names got translated bot not dark curse or even backstabber they have still thier english names and dont ask me about the colored squadron pilots but iam happy that germany has x wing

Well they do come with a lot of upgrades, which might be reason for 2, only reason I could think of for 3 would be for the different colored ships. So as to have say, 3 Royal guard and 3 blood stripped. For instance, I'm picking up 2 boxes, and will probably work with someone to go in for a third box during the sale down the line, where I'd get the ships and let him get the upgrade cards. As I have a couple Reb only friends who do enjoy doing that for some of the cards.

Good point about the ships. You'd then have a very themed looking Saber or Royal squad if you went with four.

iam pleased with my 4 boxes and having 8 times poush the limit, targeting computer, hull upgrade and shield upgrade is awesome and dont forget the royal guard title 8 times. i built 2 4 interceptor only lists
1 181st list with tetran cowall in charge
1 royal guard list with jax in charge
now iam going nuts and go for more lists the options u have THE OPTIONS !!!
still need 3 normal interceptors i love this models SO MUCH !!!

I haven't even received a shipment notice despite it being broadcast as "Now Available" on the front page splash. The entire point of "pre-order" is getting it early or at least at the same time as everyone else. It is now, at best, coming late this week when it has been available as early as last Friday in some places. I find this quite disappointing.
I have usually had exceptional service from MM and have ordered with them at least a dozen times and well over $1K over the years, but this will probably make me consider going CoolStuffInc or someone else next time.

Have another coming on the cheap, and will head out to my LGS to support them.

I have 4 (four) interceptors already and honestly that is probably the max I might ever field outside of a large engagement. I really don't want any more interceptors but the upgrades are nice and I'm in between on the thematic value. I I need to field 4 (four) interceptors I can use 4 from the interceptor expansion or two from the Aces and two from the expansion. I was thinking of only getting one (better from my wallet) but the upgrades and having a pair each is just more fun.

I got my notice that mine shipped about an hour ago.
Took a little longer than usual, but they did just move their shop, so I'm willing to cut them some slack.
I pre-ordered mine from Hobbytown USA and still haven't heard from them.
