Nightbeast performs a green maneuver but runs into a ship.

Nightbeast's Card reads, after performing a green maneuver you may take a free focus action.

The FAQ states that the perform free focus action happens before the check for stress. Which happens before the take action phase.

So if i'm correct it works like this.

1. Reveal Nightbeast Dial

2. Set Template (a green maneuver is revealed)

3. Execute NB maneuver

4. Perform Nightbeast Free action regardless of where he landed.

5. Check Pilot Stress

6. Perform action (which would be denied due to overlapping)

Overlapping only states that the ship skips its perform action step, which would not affect steps 1-5.

A: Yes.

I guess the kicker would be if he had a stress token on him to begin with.

And this confirms the green maneuver counts even though the whole maneuver stops at the overlap.

And it's also FAQd that if NB is stressed, he cannot preform the free action for doing a green, and therefore does not get a focus. And then he clears his stress and can take a normal action.

A: No. “Night Beast’s” ability triggers before the Check Pilot Stress step.
