Lets talk TIE Aggressor

By TheRealStarkiller, in X-Wing

There was a TIE with a turret. Probably the only chance for the Empire to get a turreted ship.

There are many Rebels out there, demanding a bomb slot for their Y-Wings. So you want our Proton Bombs, Seismics and Mines?

And this is the imperial answer:

TIE-agg-Aggressor.jpg

The TIE Aggressor: "Eat your own ion and blaster medicine, rebel scum".

Attack: 2

Defence: 3

Hull: 4 or 5

Shields: 0

Action: barrel, Focus, TL

Upgrades: Torp, Missile, Turret, Crew

Dial: Between Tie Fighter and Tie Bomber

Costs: similar to the Tie Bomber line.

Rough ideas for abilities:

Special ability Unique Pilot 1: on focus action: up to 2 friendly pilots in R1 get 1 focus token

Special ability Unique Pilot 2: Sec. weapons + 1 dice in R1

The package comes with a laser turret upgrade.

Attack:2

Special rule: ?

Cost: ~3 points

Not impossible, but... I don't know how many more ships FFG will be able to cram into the TIE line. 2/3/4/0 and a turret upgrade might be interesting, though.

Apart of some of the Uglies, his might be the last of the unshielded TIEs

Doesn't look like it would have a 360-degree firing arc, or else it would be blasting its own wings off. Looks like it would have more of a back arc like the Firespray.

Anything that adds to the game would be interesting IMO. However from a design standpoint, the Aggressor is just plain stupid. The idea of a turret on the thing is retarded when you look at the raised wings on the forward section. 'Cause those won't have holes punched in 'em when that turret comes to bear.

I'm hoping we see the droid and the Predator before they give up on the tie line. Both look impressive and distinct enough and both could bring something special to the game.

I like the aggressor as an advanced title that either adds a turret or a rear fire arc. I like the ship well enough looks wise but would rather see it boost the current advanced and leave a slot open for other ties.

Fighters have a 90° arc for fixed forward weapons.

The Shuttle's rear twin blaster cannon is now a 'Anti Pursuit Laser' which even the Spray and ORS/Falcon can equip. Where is the logic? This is a GAME. Things don't have to be logical to work.

Keep it. IMO, this is one of the sillier TIE Designs.

Give me an assault gunboat instead. Or if you must insist on a TIE, figure out how the TIE Vanguard could work.

And if you really want a turret, give us the Skipray.

Oh I SOOOOOO want an Assault Gunboat. Puh-leeeeeeeeeease FFG!!!

I love the Aggressor for its design and its potential for X-Wing.

The TIE Vanguard is one of the uglies - besides its ugliness - is there anything special about it?

And I think the Skipray needs a large base ... and it isn't an imperial ship neccessarily - its more a 3rd faction ship.

As TIEs go, the Aggressor is kind of a limp handshake of a design (and honestly, TIEs are agile enough not to need turrets. But, if you must have turrets, I like the Sith Fury, a.k.a the Mega TIE: (plus it gives the imps a large ship)

Cool design - but wrong era.

Its from the MMORPG Star Wars - The Old Republic. Its about 1000 years in the past ... from the Age of Rebellion, there X-Wing takes place.

So, any pros or ideas on the Tie Aggressor?

I'm sure it will come ... before or after the Starwing.

Fire arcs are closer to 80 degrees. They are definitely not 90.

Probably the only chance for the Empire to get a turreted ship.

Nope. Skipray Blastboat. More well known and more interesting. Could be a sturdy large base ship with a turret slot (maybe a cannon slot too) and a poor maneuver dial. Alternately, it could be the Empire's first ship with a 360 primary. Personally I would prefer the former, as then it could include a new type of turret upgrade.

Cool design - but wrong era.

Sure, it's 1000 years old, but no one in the Star Wars universe EVER throws anything away (the Skipray, bless its ugly hull, was designed before the Clone Wars, as was the YT-1300, the CR-90, etc); look at all the rustbuckets flying around. I'm sure the Sith have a closet full of them somewhere, and be honest, would you refuse one if they came out?

And I'm sorry, but I hope the Starwing never comes out. it's a terribly ugly ship.

Just a thought, but isn't a TIE fighter's turret his mates? There are always so many TIE's flying around it's not like you don't have the fire lanes covered with clever placement. Plus, turreted ships are usually pigs.... well, anyway, if they do bring it out it won't be a crime, not when there are so many TIE's (well- and badly-designed) out there:

Personally, I'd prefer to keep some differences between the factions. As cool as it would be to have rebels dropping bombs and imps with some 360 ion action, I feel it will start homogenizing (can I spell? Not sure) the factions. Both sides feel distinct to play. If every faction had access to the full range of upgrades, I'd start getting bored.

That is a pretty bird.

Your graphic is missing the PREDATOR! One of the more unique looking, without looking goofy, ties!

It and the droid are the ones I really want now... followed by chisscraft/hunter.

I really like the Aggressor's look, it reminds me of a WW1 two seater fighter like the Bristol F2B or a WW2 torpedo bomber like the Grumman Avenger (similar name too). The rear turret should have a 180 degree fire arc to be "diffierent" and the wings are shaped to allow this.

As it is meant to be equivalent to the Y wing I am not sure it should get a crew slot as it should just be a dedicated gunner like the Y wing has.

finnaly someone other talking about the other tie variants so iam nto alone here ^^

and yes i want the agressor too its one of my favorite tie variants it evn can drop bombs it was a fighter and lighter bomber

an all-round fighter with a crew member who used the turret.

screw the prototype ties the M series not worth to make models of cause no named pilots piloted em.

well with big ships coming i can see Tie Heavy bomber and tie inderdictor coming along

those are just modified versions of the standard bomber the dial should be like the normal bomber or related to bomber dial.

the stats for both should be 2/2/6/0.

the heavy bomber and interdictor have no shielding so 6 hull is ok

the abilities for both: evade, focus, target lock and barrel roll

the heavy bomber should have one more bomb upgrade so he has a max of 2 bomb slots.

the interdictor should have a 3rd missile slot so he has a max of 3 missile slots.

the point cost for these 2 new bombers should start like the normal tie bomber with 16, 18 or 20 points for the ps 2 pilot and then up.

With those stats, it'd make sense to just make them title cards for the current bomber.

NO !! I WANT EM AS MODELS !!!

besides more modles = morep rofit for FFG cause its a new product we customers can add to our collection

I doubt they'll make the stats practically identical to the current bomber if they make them.

no other choice with the stats but mabye other dials but stats must be the same its basicly the same
