Is it useful?

By Alejo, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Hi, While I wait my 4 books to arrive (just to lower anxiety :)) I made for personal use some 80+ different tokens and markers for use with EotE in my laptop, to show the rest of the group I´ll be playing with (personally or online) some images that could be useful. Here is a screenshots using a few tokens just to state starships distances and speed... But as I don´t have experience yet with the game I wanted to ask you what do you think could be of help concerning markers and tokens for use with VTT (virtual tabletop)? Or based in your experience... Do you think it is really not necessary?

Its got potential, let us know how it works in practice. I the players are in different craft I could really see this as one of the only solutions that would work.

What program is that?

It's Fantasy Grounds, a virtual table top.

We have personally been using the old Star Wars Miniature Game minis and they are great for visuals and gameplay! I have made lots of tile boards and my players love it...

... Didn't think on that one... If I'm not wrong it also has a Vassal module for online play. Thanks for the info.

Hi Alejo,

Is there a ruleset for EotE in FG2? I wasn't aware of one. I used to use FG2 extensively for WFRP3, but for EotE I found Roll20 to be superior.

As far as tokens, yes your tokens will be useful. You can either use tokens for ranges (like WFRP3 does), or you can use a "radar" map.

Here is the link to a great fan work on a bunch of tokens for online EotE.

If you have the opportunity to share your tokens, please do.

Thanks

We've been doing the same thing. We even broke out some HeroClix maps with interesting layouts.

Hi Ceodryn,

to answer your questions...

Well, there is not an FG2 Module for EotE. I wish there was! In fact I´m using my module of Call of Cthulhu to try and test a way to help me understand more easily Space Combat... Wish I could help you with that, sorry.

Thanks for the info about tokens :)

I like the radar, I´ll see if I can make a bigger one with different background images. Will let you know soon.

And there you have my tokens. I made them with Corel Photopaint, at 26mm (characters), 35 mm Vehicles and starfighters, 52 mm Capital Starships.

I just created the account for this. Please tell me if there is any problem with it.
