Guys, my local group is just getting into X-wing and we are reaching the point where we are getting into 100 point games.

I have an idea for a list and wondered what people think.

Jan Ors

Moldy Crow

Nien Numb

Dutch Vander

Red Squadron

R2 Astromech

Dutch TLs and then hands a free TL to one of the Red Squadron boys. Jan brings up the rear and buffs the already buffed (TL) and focused RS. Nien Numb is on board with Jan to increase the number of green moves she can make to maximise her buff output.

Naked Dutch Vander is usually a bad idea. HWK without a turret is a terrible idea because they have no damage output at all, but I could see at least trying Jan without one because it makes her less of a target, and that ability is awesome. Red squad over rookies depends on the local meta, but I personally like higher PS in general.

The 2 R2 units on the Reds are of little value to you and the Moldy Crow on jan is of no value in in her current set up.

Drop them both and give Jan an Ion cannon so she has a use beyond flying around adding a die.

Dutch is great for TL passing, but iffy in this list without a cannon upgrade.

You could do this.

That's 100 pts with some nice synergies. The Rookies can both TL, then Jan can Squad Leader one for a focus. Garven can focus, then use it and pass it to the other Rookie. Jan adds her dice where needed.

I don't think you'll find Numb or the Moldy Crow title do much for you. Further more, get some turrets on your HWK and Jan!

I think i'll ditch the crow title and the two R2 cards for an ion turret on Jan or Dutch.

Choice between Jan or Dutch for the Ion turret: who would be better suited?

Jan is for the simple reason that Dutch can fight a little already.

Although I've only gotten to fly it a few times, here is the Jan list I put together this weekend:

(31) Jan with Ion Turret & Nien Numb

(48) Blue with Fire Control System x2

(21) Rookie

I like the list because it's a Jan list with 4 ships, a turret on Jan, no compromise in firepower in the rest of the squad (making her ability that much more useful), and some action stacking capability thru the FCS.

Originally, I'd thought of using Garven (at the cost of Nien and both FCS), but I'd rather have 2 potential target locks and better stress clearing options on Jan (who is perpetually stressed) over 1 shared focus and my X-Wing shooting earlier.

I've also considered dropping Nien & the Ion to a Blaster turret to get Squad Leader on Jan but I don't like it because time she used Squad Leader she'd be unable to shoot at all.

I've also thought of this, but that means either firing an unmodified Blaster Turret or dropping something else. For example, I could lose a FCS, or I could drop the rookie to an A-Wing. In my opinion, Swarm Tactics isn't worth either the loss in action stacking or firepower.

I'd love to use Jan's EPS, so if you see a way to do it I'd be very curious.

Aaahhh I didn't catch that, thanks. I thought he was referring to r2-d2 I didn't realize there was a generic r2 since I probably skip over him haha.

... wouldn't Nien let her use a 4 Straight to clear stress, instead of picking up a stress token from the maneuver?

He does change the red maneuver to green. Getting turrets on both ships is more important.

With an Ion Turret on Jan, you don't need Nien as much as she can green move even if she bumps, sure she'll lose her action, but based on her ability working at R1-3, she shouldn't be in a place where she is bumping in the first place.
