Yeah. There is that.

I suppose if I were going to do this sort of demo at a library or other board game event I would take a cost sheet of 40K miniatures to show how reasonable X-Wing really is.
Yeah, for those of us who played 40k or other games X-Wing is quite cheap. Heck selling off my 1750 point Space Marine army paid for a large chunk of my collection as of wave 3, and I got about half of what it was worth retail... Which I didn't mind, I had fun with it but was doing nothing but taking up shelf space at that point.
But on the other hand, my brother who collections action figures and such thought $30 for the Falcon was more then reasonable for the size and quality of the model.
I actually just showed the game off to my wife today. I own mostly Rebels so the first two game were my X and Hwk vs her Y and A. We split the first two games - crushed her when I pulled out Wedge. The third game was me with an X and A, while she had a B and A.
The ships were easy to fly and we avoided upgrades. She took the last match because I forgot I had stress and she flew me off the board. Whoops!
Well, the library is hosting another board game night tonight - different branch, so probably different people - I might show up and see if I can find another new person to play against. Same ship mix, since it seemed to work well last time (although I'm remembering to bring all the stand parts so I can actually use my Y-wing model!
)
I'll let you know how it all turns out.
So funny story I had never played this game until my first Tourny, I watched some videos and checked out this forum but past that I did nothing else. So come Tourny day I had a couple of question but brought 3 fighters 1 inter 1 shuttle, and went 2-2. I say all that to say it's not a hard game to get the hang of so anything you bring should be fine, but maybe take x-wings and tie fighters keep it simple as possible so people understand the game more then a bunch of cards and stuff. I would not really worry about upgrades or named pilots. Later after there is understanding of the game then show it's depth.
Remember, Straight forward is always better then clever.
