Hobbie treated unfair?

By R22, in X-Wing

Jek drives himself into the ground. PS7 and an elite pilot talent.

Hobbie, stock member of Rogue Squadron, survives epic movie plot points, best buddies with Janson, Wedge, and co.?

But he's only a PS5 and no elite pilot talent? Tarn PS3 does? I know -- I know -- for game purposes and balance it makes sense. But kind of irks me.

No more than Biggs and Red Leader. Biggs definitely deserved more Pilot Skill, and Red Leader probably deserved an Elite Talent. But it is all interpretation. Wedge did talk up Jek a lot in the X-wing series. Though I have to say that Jek's ability is probably the most movie accurate in the game. Biggs is close.

Biggs had the best moustache of anyone to fly an X Wing.

According to your avatar, this was your first post. Awesome.

I'm not sure where I read it, but apparently (and don't take this as canon), Jek thought he was pulling up out of his dive during the attack on the Death Star. However, his inertial compensators were set so high, he couldn't tell he wasn't pulling up nearly as much as he thought he was. This directly contributed to him lawn-darting the hell out of the Death Star.

UPDATE: After a quick "let me Google that for you", Jek was killed by turbolaser fire. Oh well. I like my initial thought that his massive, elite ass was fragged as a direct result from his "comfort" settings on his X-Wing.

Actually Wedge says this in one of the X-wing novels, I believe it's Wraith Squadron, while he is reminiscing about his past pilots. Always preferred this explanation myself.

Jek was one of the Rebels top aces at the time and a veteran with the Y-wing pilots. Wedge was a complete newb at the time, but raw natural talent.

Isn't Hobbie's stick is that he gets shot down a lot, but always manages to SOMEHOW survive? He's an above average pilot, but I can't say for sure if he'd be better than Biggs or Garven in reality.

Pretty sure Garven fell victim to being in the first wave of ships etc for the game. Couldn't stack the Rebels with elite pilots compared to the Imperials.

I think when we see "Pops" introduced we'll get an Elite skilled Y-Wing, even though I think Dutch or Salm deserves it more. Unless they feel Y-Wings don't deserve the Elite skill.

I would like to think that there is scope for particular pilots to have alternate versions of themelves i.e. luke as a jedi etc.

they may consider doing alternate versions of pilots latter in the movie series having more experience, earning an ept slot etc.

I like to think that Jek's massive gravitational pull drew him down inexorably towards the death star's surface

I wouldn't mind to see Jedi powers like Sense, Alter and control, but they may think it has no place in a starfighter game.

The Jedi already have Jedi like powers in this game. Luke is a defense first Jedi, and it shows in his power. Kyle passes around focus tokens like an old van near a school bus stop, and Vader can perform two actions with out stress.

This is it. Hobbie has survived being shot down so many times 3/4 of his limbs are cybernetic. He improved as time went on; by the time of the X-Wing novels I can't recall him being shot down again.

Tarn doesn't have an elite pilot slot...

Hopefully one day we will see a generic x-wing with an EPT

I am surprised there isn't a new unique in the Transport, considering the other pilots. Figured maybe a PS4 or 5 Rogue Squadron generic with an EPT.

However, R2-D6 can be put on a Red Squadron, so you can have ONE with an EPT.
