OCD ALERT...OCD ALERT...

By Duke of Advil, in X-Wing

I am getting ready to split up my ships into different cases Rebel and Empire. It is not as easy as it sounds. I keep my ships in their clamshells that they came in when I bought them. I'm sure you can guess where this is going.....I have 2 core sets and I need 2 X-Wing clamshells from the expansion packs and 4 TIE clamshells from their expansion packs so I can separate them. Anyone have any they are willing to give up? I only need these 6 to make the transition.

I came across this problem. I think that there might be something wrong with us.

The obvious solution is just to buy 2 X-Wing expansions and 4 TIE Fighter Expansions. ;)

Go to Wal-Mart buy a Plano 732 tackle box and be done with it. I had mine in the clamshells for the longest time. Now that the ships are easy to find and not going on eBay for rediculous amounts I see no point in storing them as if they were glass. I got everything listed in my sig along with all cards, templates, and dials in this. I did move all but 9 small and 5 large stands into storage cause 8 and 4 are the most your every going to field in 100 points. If I need them for a epic huge game then I know where they are. The box was like $50 and I still have room for my 4 Imp Aces, 8 Z-95s, 3 E-Wings, 3 Defenders, and 3 Phantoms on order.

Battlefoam has some great storage solutions.

Check out the battlefoam sword bag with the pluck foam load out. Its a good buy.

If you still have the starter plastic, just put the TIEs in one starter plastic and the X's in another. If they don't fit, use scissors and cut the X parts away from the TIE parts and split them up that way.

Much cheaper

As you can see I have a cases, I just need the shells.

My OCD runs too deep to go into with the Battle Foam or the Plano Tackle box. I have researched both and while they are great it would take me too long to go into why they are not for me. Just trust me I am mental. More of these cases coming soon.

Weird that you're OCD...yet you don't own the max of each ship that could be fielded....no 6 HWKs....no 4 Lambdas.

I've decided I have both ADHD and OCD.

Everything has to be perfect, but not for very long...

I'm still twitching that you didn't leave a space after the first ellipsis in the title.

Just go with the flow and convince yourself that each case should include a starter set with the other side's ship. You know, in case you only have your "Rebel" case and want to introduce someone to the game. That is what I told myself anyway.

This is the one I use. One of the best!

Edit:

Perhaps some of your local game shops might have a few shells or could save a few that have been thrown away? It's a possibility.

I'm afraid the tie defender won't fit anything nicely

I also run with the plastic shells. I just can't imagine anything being better than the cases designed by the creators themselves.

Right now I've just got a cardboard box and a starter box holding everthing, with a small plastic box holding tokes and such. At some point I might spring for something larger, but we'll see.

I actually bought a really nice Plano box the other day so my wife and I could more effectively box up Agricola. I might pick up another one sometime in the future.

Also note - I don't have a ton of ships - starter set, 2 x B, 2 x A, 2 x Y, 1 x HWK, 1 x X Expansion.

It is not plastic, it is billions and billions of midi-chlorians, metaphysically banded together, who's only purpose is to protect these ships from the destructive cases in which they are housed until they are dispatched to complete their mission.

I bought the exact one before Christmas at Walmart when it was on sale for $30-$35.

It works great and plenty of room to accommodate my expanding collection.

Plus you can streamline, leave the big case at home and carry everything you need for the day in one of the trays.

Ok everyone who has the Plano 732, time to chime back in.....

do you have any pics of your setup, where do you put each thing...I need details. Movement templates, bases, dials, large.ships?

Also what is the Plano number for the 3 horizonal boxes and the two on their edge?

yeah,
If you have OCD how in earth did you manage to get your brain to agree with your current setup??
Tools go in tool cases and models go in model cases?

cannot be any worse that putting them in a fishing box. I tried pluck foam and really did not like how it turned out. Battle foam sells it precut and my OCD would require me to fill all the holes, leaving none unfilled. I could buy the custom cut ones, but I would need to forsee my ship buying into the future or wait until i have enough ships to order the next tray.... then where would I store those ships?????

How do you even open them?

Battlefoam is fine for stuff I spent hours painting and can have the paint chipped off or stuff bent/broken in transport.

None of that really seems true with X-Wing, even with X-Wings in a plastic plano box I've never seen one damaged or even misshaped. I just don't see any way to justify the cost of battlefoam for X-Wing.
