Today I took:
Rhymer APT X 2 PTL
Yorr sensor jammer rebel captive
Backstabber
Academy pilot
Against my friend's list of:
Dutch r5 Prot blaster turret
Gray r5 Prot blaster turret
Salm r5 Prot x 2 blaster turret
His list is incredibly annoying to play against. The turret and missile spam are hard to avoid (you're basically going to have to get hit by one or the other). I learned a lot from this match. Namely, that my shuttle build was trash other than some timely stress token philandering and will likely run a straight buzzsaw or Yorrsaw in the future. Rhymer was awesome and ended up killing all three of his Y-wings. Salm took two APTs directly to the forehead while the others were slowly whittled down. I even lost both my my TIE/lns by turn three, though, they did provide some awesome blocking.
I wish Rhymer was a little cheaper. You're paying for an ability you only get to use after you pay more points to load his bomb bays up. It was devastating but it took both APTs to drop one Y-wing leaving me with only my 2 base attack to try and kill the other ships. Unless, of course I want to spend MORE points on more missiles. I'd like to figure out how to run the bomber better but the ordinance is too pricey and the cheap, new choices (flechette and ion pulse) lack punch. If you even want to take enough bewms to matter (say Jonus and two Gammas) you only have the points for two crappy TIES as blockers and even then it's still very difficult to TL + Focus with Gammas unless you squad leader with Jonus making him a 22 point support piece.
Still trying to figure it out myself because I really like the way the bombers look...
