Where do you get your movement templates at?

By Desslok, in X-Wing

Okay, easy question - I've seen pictures of the third party movement templates before, and I had one store bookmarked ages ago - but hell if I cant find it now.

Where would you recommend getting a set of those nice laser cut plastic movement templates at? Preferably something that wont break the bank too badly (or if it does, it's super cool)

Picked up mine from Team Covenant: http://teamcovenant.com/store/star-wars-x-wing-2/covenant-templates.html (UPDATE: Seems these are out of stock right now.)

I've also seen some from Litko: http://www.litko.net/categories/Shop-By-Compatible-Game-System/Star-Wars-X-Wing/
Yet a third option from Applied Perspective: http://www.appliedperspective.com/acrylic/product/movement-templates/

UPDATE: More! More options, I say! (Cog 'o Two): http://www.cogotwo.com/war-gaming

Happy hunting!

Don't forget you can win a set. They seem to make it standard top 16 at Nats/Worlds. And this year they're offering them as top 4 at regionals.

That's where I got mine, mostly because they're in the Twin Cities near where I live. It was $25 for a set of maneuver templates and a range ruler. I'm very happy with them.

Yeah, but that would require me to be - well, you know - good at the game. Hell, I can barley keep my ships from slamming into each other, let alone actually win.

Naw, I'm just in it for the friendly matches against friends. Cutthroat Tourney play does nothing for me.

(And thanks El Jeffe - I'll check 'em out later tonight!)

Mine are Applied Perspectives, too (in the smoke color), and even without any painting they're precise and perfectly readable.

I got mine at applied perspectives as well. Very nice and extremely fast shipping. I bought some miscellaneous tokens also. The guy was also very responsive on email inquiries, so don't hesitate to ask questions (he'll do custom stuff within reason as well).

I got my range ruler and some additional tokens from corsec engineering. http://corseceng.com/

I haven't received them yet, so no recommendation for/against until I see the product.

I have Applied Perspective. In retrospect, I wouldn't recommend the mirrored design, as they can be hard to read. At least the red is. The black (or dark grey or whatever it was) are pretty good. I had a red range ruler, but won one of the FFG rulers at a store championship so it's really not a problem.

I want to point out that some 3rd party templates are not perfectly accurate. The ones I got from AP, however, are perfect.

Also, one of my templates arrived with a scratch in it. Nothing severe, but enough to be noticeable. I emailed them and they quickly sent me a new one. Great customer service with them.

got a very nice set from Daft concepts, kickstarter. they included the range ruler broke down into a 1 and a 1-2, and a firing arc extender for regular and large ships. No idea when they will be for sale but would highly recommend them.

I don't know about you guys, but I got a Core Set. Very useful thing; I recommend you purchase one yourself.

Pfff, yeah. If you want to stay OG with your fancy cardboard that always stays perfect, doesn't fray and doesn't soak up the occasionally spilled beer.

C'mon, you know how customized these types of miniatures games can get. Fanboys like myself, we need those extra options to trick out our toys. :D

It's the only way I can legitimately explain to my significant other that this isn't me playing "army men in space" with my friends.

"See? These are super accurate and specially designed acrylic range measurement tools."

Have had my first core set since late 2012... nothing wrong with it..and I recently colored the sides with marker.. still 100%

That said, the fluff of acrylic templates is intriguing and they can be a nice addition to your tools of the game.. but not mandatory...

I'll put in another good word for Applied Perspectives. I've got movement and range templates from Adam and they are excellent quality.

Im surprised no one has mentioned Cog'O'Two yet.

They make some of the nicest tokens and templates around and they ship fast.

They also ship from the UK, UK post is much cheaper and faster than the horrible UPS.

I live in New Zealand and it takes half the time to send stuff here from the UK for less $£$

I've also ordered a custom set of movement templates from Litko and a range ruler, the standing TL's the template holder unit from CorSec.

Added Cog 'o Two to the top.

+1 more for Applied Perspectives. Ditto for their excellent customer service.

I got mine custom from Litko. They look great.

I recently got mine in from Cog'o Two and have been very happy with them. They take a little time when they arrive as you will more than likely want to paint them so that the details are sharper, which I was very happy to do which will make mine unique on the table color-wise. Check em:

No they're not, but for $25 for a set that you don't have to worry about getting wet, or bending, and IMO look much better. It's a really good deal for a game that many of us have spent so much money on already.

Applied perspectives is fantastic.

I suppose, but I rarely have a drink in the game area and others I game with similarly try to keep it a clean surface. I try to keep the accident from not only happening, but not possible as well.. lol take care of them they will last.. and.. I have 4 sets.. so.. don't feel the need for them. I got some items from cog o' two for fun, and am very happy with them. The 2 and 1 range guide and the 1 and 2 straight maneuver sticks are nice and I got a bomb set for grins as well.. and those look awesome with some white paint added..

My group uses felt playmats, and the cardboard templates have an annoying habit of snagging on the fibers. The acrylics, on the other hand, are smooooooooove.

If your doing this for durabillity, for $10-$0 more you could get another core set with NEW templates a X-Wing 2 Ties and a ton of other stuff.
