Question about Card Sleeves

By fealthas, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Hi

I just bought the Descent 2nd edition game.

I always buy card sleeves for my games and wanted to do the same with Descent.

Alas what to do with the 152 small cards

I searched around a bit and found a post where someone mentions Mayday Mini USA card sleeves.

Has anyone here bought these or some other card sleeves for the small cards?

Can you please confirm that Mayday Mini USA card sleeves 41 x 63 is the correct size or perhaps suggest another supplier of mini card sleeves?

Buy sleeves that FFG releasing. Try yellow for small cards and green for "big" cards. I have that sleeves and they are great.

I have had bad experiences with Mayday being just too small while displaying a given "correct" size - and the quality is low (sleeves too thin and tearing away).

Go for FFG : the quality is much better and the game boxes give you the number and type of necessary sleeves to buy.

As an alternative, Ultra Pro are nice (but you must keep with them, as the sleeves have a small mark on them).

As simple as that.

I didnt even think about checking FFG since no one mentioned them in the other topics I found.

Thx for the help :)

Thai Board Games are the best value IMO

Anybody sleeving up the heroes sheets? What do you use?

I found the FFG card sleeves on amazon.co.uk

There a reviewer writes: the green ones are "frosted" on one side.

Does that mean they are truly clear only on the front?

Also the text on amazon says: "Standard boardgame sleeve (German version)

Anyone know if that makes a difference?

I think we need to be very careful to ensure we are all talking about the same product.

FFG uses colour codes to identify the size and shape of their basic, uncoloured sleeves. There are quite a few of these, sized to fit everything from standard playing cards to mini cards to square cards (ie: Power Grid) and beyond. Green is the colour code for standard playing cards, yellow is the colour code for mini cards (such as items and search cards, in D2E.) The sleeves themselves are not coloured at all.

However, FFG also produces a line of coloured sleeves , sized to fit standard playing cards. These come in a variety of colours, including green .

These are the colour-code "green" sleeves Bladen was suggesting to use with D2E: http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?sku=FFS03

These are the actually green sleeves that I suspect you saw reviewed on Amazon: http://store.fantasyflightgames.com/productdetails.cfm?sku=FFS29
