Wow TIE Sentinel ... never saw that before ... I like its design over the Aggressors'
Its only apperal was on a painting in a expansion of a computer game that is non-existend today......
Thats thin ...
If they make another pack, I would like to see Keyan Farlander in a Y-wing and an Imperial small ship only unique title: Secret Order of the Emperor—Your ship gains the EPT Icon. Unique pilots only.

With the precident of "Rebel/Empire Only" and "TIE Interceptor Only" cards as well as the "Limited" cards from the CR-90 pack, we very well could start to see ship specific cards that would allow us to field our ships in ways that were not available to us before.
With all the TIE Advanced hate, that might very well be a way to "Improve" the ship to the standards that some of the community feels it deserves.
You get this wrong. There is no hate for the Advance. He just needs more love.
Agreed. Perhaps 'hate' was the wrong word to use. "I wont use it because it under preforming compared to it's cost" is more appropriate.
You worded it nicely ![]()
"I wont use it because it under preforming compared to it's cost" is more appropriate.
And that's really the extent of it, and why I was proposing this expansion idea in the OP.
It's not that the TIE Advanced and Y-Wing are USELESS, it's just that...well, tournaments are incredibly competitive events, which quickly sort the cost-effective units from those that are not. And both the TIE Advanced (to a substantial degree) and Y-Wing (to a lesser degree) fall into that latter category.
They aren't awful, they just aren't as good as everything else out there in their point range.
I think only minor tweaks are needed to bring them up to that 'tournament viable' edge, and if that provides a double bonus of making it even EASIER for new players to get into the game and fight an iconic battle...
Well. That is just win-win...
It is important to recognize that the TIE Advanced is cost-effective in casual play.
The problem isn't with the ship. The problem is that you can't make optimal use of the ship's advantages within a relatively short time limit. Using barrel roll, the TIE Advanced will generally get more shooting turns than a comparable X-wing, and will have an easier time making it into range 1 from convenient angles. This relies on drawing the game out to get your kills, which is not generally advantageous in a tournament setting.
I would like to see where the TIE Advanced would get its modification card(s) to convert it to the TIE Avenger with the correct model. Add in a customized Y-Wing with its mod cards. Then top it off with some new named Black Squadron and Red Squadron pilot cards. This would be a pretty cool "Battle of Yavin" expansion pack.

I kinda don't want to see the TIE Avenger, myself.
It's a bit too much along the lines of "just like the TIE Advanced, only better in every way!"
Just not a fan of that, IMHO. Especially when we have so many very DISTINCTIVE other ships in the EU that would be worth pulling in, first. (*cough* Assault gunboat *cough*)
And it doesn't really address the issue of the TIE Advanced, itself, being a visually interesting/engaging craft (certainly one of the few that non-hardcore-fans will still recognize - heck, even my *wife* asked "That's Vader's fighter, right?") that the current options for it somewhat let down.
Personal preference again, but...I'd *also* never want to see it ubiquitous, or a go-to fighter. It SHOULD be rare (-ish), but...well, not as rare as it is.
As I noted in the other thread, I think the A-Wing's Chardaan Refit gives us a great precedent for what could be done to fix the TIE Advanced. Call it the "dogfighter refit" or something. Cost: 0, occupies missile slot (as with Chardaan), reduces cost by 1 point (rather than 2), adds a 'system upgrade' icon. Done! That should, by and large, fix the issues with the Advanced. It'll still be pretty rare, but...at least it would appear more often than it does, now. It could be competitive, that way!
I think such a refit would actually be a PERFECT fit for this proposed 'Battle of Yavin' pack, because...well, let's face it, that's probably what Vader WAS running at Yavin. We certainly never saw him fire off any missiles!
