So I've been playing xwing now for a few months but havnt done any tournaments. This weekend will be my first and I have a few questions. First off I'm expecting probably around 15-20 people showing up at my local store and my question is for those of you who play in tournaments of similar size what kind of variation is there in builds? The reason I ask this is because I can only use 1 build which is standard obviously so I kind of need a universal build. Will there be lots of swarms or lots of falcons and firesprays? Just curious so I can tailor my builds a little better. Right now I think I'm going with wedge and Biggs naked plus jan ors with a blaster turret and a prototype awing. Does this sound like a decent universal build for a tourney?

4 ship rebel builds are usually solid, but I see a few minor problems in this particular one. Blaster turret on Jan without recon or moldy crow means you only have 1 focus token, which will get used just to fire to turret and can't be used to modify the roll. You either have to use an Ion instead, or get one of the aforementioned upgrades, both of which will cost you points. Or eliminate the turret altogether, but then you loose the turret and Jan becomes useless outside of her ability. Also, a prototype A-Wing likely won't provide much as fire-power as you will likely expect. Usually Jan and Wedge together is means Wege can rip any pilot in his arc to shreds quickly, but is very point heavy, leaving few points for the rest of your squad. You've (smartly) used Biggs to protect them both, but that drains your point total even more. You may have to decide between the two or take the turret off Jan, which also comes with the aforementioned problem.

I'm not saying its a bad list, I'm just saying I do see some room for improvement.

Take out Jan and go Dutch Vander Imo.

What it really comes down to is dice. You want to roll lots of dice.

Imo if your going to a tournament go with something that can dish out Dmg.

If you come across a tie swarm, you'll be hard press to win.

Jan with Blaster Turret is not something I'd recommend using. That weapon requires having a Focus token to use which means taking the Focus action. Getting to take Focus will require being stress free while Jan's ability essentially makes her stressed all the time with few ways of getting rid of it. Jan with an Ion turret is a different kind of beast.

You should run some kind of 4 ship Rebel build. BBXY or BBXX are both great choices. Though, any BB based build is expensive.
