Kath + HLC + Marksmanship + Merc Copilot @ R3

By ElJeffe313, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I'm curious if the following sequence of events is correct:

1. Kath targets an opponent's ship at Range 3 with her Heavy Laser Cannon

2. Kath rolls 2 eyeballs, 1 hit, 1 crit

3. Opponent has no ability to alter the dice as rolled

4. Kath "immediately" changes her 1 crit to a hit, as per HLC card text

5. Kath then changes 1 eyeball to a crit and 1 eyeball to a hit, as per Marksmanship card text

6. Kath then changes 1 hit to crit, as per Mercenary Copilot card text.

If this is indeed the correct interpretation of events, then from an initial roll of two eyeballs, 1 crit and 1 hit, Kath ends up with 2 crits and 2 hits for the opponent to roll defense dice against.

One follow up question about steps 3 and 4. Though the HLC card stipulates the attacker must "immediately" turn all crits into hits, the rulebook specifies after an attack roll, the defender may use any available ability to alter the attacker's dice before the attacker does. How would HLC's card text specifying "immediately" work here? Does the opponent modify the attacker's dice first, or is this a case of card text superseding the rulebook in terms of timing?

If this was covered previously, I apologize for not finding it in the forums. Otherwise, thank you for any feedback!

Okay, so the way this works, the "Immediately" means that before the defender uses Elusiveness/Sensor Jammer, you change all of your crits to hits.

They then use Elusiveness/Sensor Jammer.

You then decide how the focus/target lock and merc co-pilot fall out.

Makes sense. Much appreciated.
