NHL Playoffs

By Stag Lord, in 8. AGoT Off Topic

you guys kind of got screwed a bit in the first period on some of the calls (ovie steamrolled someone without the puck...brasher, who should at the elast get suspended after the fact...and then a tickytack hooking call against....)

all you need is to score first in washington and i think you guys will have the confidence back.

...ugh...

And sinice that post is too short to post....

...ugh...

I feel kinda dirty having to root for chicago again ( what can i say they are an old North Stars rival)

Wings vs. Ducks (Wings in 7) I'm not too fond of either of these teams so... I don't really care who wins.

Canucks vs. Hawks (Canucks in 6) Go Canucks!!

Canes vs. Bruins (Canes in 7) Please tell me the Canes are the real deal.

Caps vs. Pens (Pens in 6) Go Caps!!! Although, I think the Pens are a more well-rounded team.

Now I'll go back to my coma of sadness...

Sweet.

Naslund announces his retirement from the Rnagers - before 6/30 - saving the team about 4M in cap space. I think this gives them enough room to make a run at Gaborik (who would probably be about teh only free agent we could pick up, given what he is going to get and given how close we are to the cap). But I think that one great finisher is what the Rangers are missing from putting them at the top of the conference.

If he can only stay healthy.....

I'm really hoping the Caps take tonight's game - I want them to be able to put the hammer down heading in to Game 5.

And WTF with Boston? I KNEW that team was vulnerable - they just don't have enough firepower. I'll never root for the Canes (my rule agaisnt rooting for teams that play in cities with no ice) comes into play. So I migth be rising the Cpads badnwagon all the way through.

pens fans....ugh....take two

""It is a shame that both teams will have to play back to back games ... because the Pittsburgh building -- against NHL rules -- booked a series of concerts and forced the league to alter the playoff schedule," Leonsis wrote recently on his blog, Ted's Take. "This is bad for the league, both fan bases and for the players."

the concert that is causing the issue....Yanni (seriously)

lol...

I read that today. I get the complaint, but seriously??? Like no one has ever had to play back-to-backs in the playoffs before??? Boo freakin' whoo.

Maybe the Pens have convinced Leonsis that the series is more about who can whine the most, and he's trying to keep pace with them?

Hawks go up 3-2! Nice. I'm kinda hoping for an original six meeting for the Western Conference finals, since it seems unlikely to happen now for the Cup with Boston choking against stupid Carolina. Go hawks!

I puke a little every time some one uses the term "Original Six" as a reason for anything... I'm sorry. It's completely NBC's fault.

Haha. I'm sorry! :-) I just have little to no interest in 2nd generations of expansion teams like Hartford/Carolina playing a team originally named after a Disney movie playing each other in the Cup final. Not compared to matchups with truly storied rivalries from teams that have been around since 50 years before I was born. There's just something much more nostalgic in it to me, and those are the teams I remember being told about by my dad when I was little. Watching Chicago play Detroit at the old Chicago Stadium was one of the highlights of my youth, and I guess I carry a bias for that sort of thing with me. :-P

Now that's a different story all together, and one which I fully understand and support!!!

And isn't the 'Original Six' a misnomer anyway? , as there were 7 teams originally (Ottaw Senators - who went under, and the new/current expansion team was renamed after the original) - someone correct me if I'm mistaken - going off memory

caught the Vancouver - Chicago game tongiht - great game, & my rooting interest won (Chicago, I always root for the guys I watched play in the college ranks, and Chicago has more, and Burish is a UW Badger).

Yeah, that was one heck of a rollercoaster ride, thats for sure. 12 goals, and the lead changed about as many times in between as it could. Patrick Kane's 1st and 3rd goals were truly excellent to watch too. Chicago to the Western Conf. finals!

I'm sorry i missed the end of that game - i bailed on it at 3-3 when it started getting late. The Caps-Pens game was hella fun though (although how they let Crosby get in front of the net to knock in that 4th goal AMAZES me) Very clucth win for the Cpas - I honestly didn't think they ahd it in them, and I am keeping my fingers corssed that we get a good result in Game 7. At least the Caps have been there before.....

another example of the flyer's bad luck. I'm glad he (and patrick sharp...that was just stupidity) has help[ed revitailize the market.

every series in the Ovie era....trend?

It'll probably keep them fomr winning a Cup - you can't go teh limit 14 to 21 times without it catching up wiht you, but as long as they win tonight - I really don't care.

Nice coem back for the bruins, shutting out teh Canes in Game Five and throttling them 4-2 last night. It would be sweet if they could win Game 7 at home and mount teh second succesful 1-3 rally this spring.

AND we've got a Game 7 in Detroit-Anaheim as well. Quite the entertaining second roudn this year.

The B's are toying with my emotions. I'm bracing for the stomach punch loss after clawing back with two strong wins. Too bad the 'Canes weren't still where they belong in Hartford, that would be a bitter contest on the ice and in the stands (I remember being at Bruins-Whalers games and seeing fights break out in the stands on more than one occasion --that's crazy).

LordofBrewtown, good to see another college hockey fan on here (I love that a guy --Bitz-- from my alma mater is on the B's even if he's not getting enough ice time lengua.gif ). College hockey is probably my top sports passion and certainly my favorite sport to watch live.

You two should get along grea. and your both numbers guys too. *shudder*

Freaking Penguins. I HATE the freaking Penguins. Caps never were in that game last night.

i dunno where half the caps went...Backstrom, Semin, Federov, Greene...how many goals did they omcbine for in the series? 2?

Green and Backstrom did nothing against us either, and really neither did Fedorov until he bagged the game winner late in Game 7. Semin had a good series aginst us - but it really was kozlov and their defensemen Poti and some other dude who killed us in Games 5 & 6.

Maybe they weren't quite ready yet.

I jsut remember backstrom scoring like 3 huge goals against us last yers...then he dissapears this yer...not a good sign.

Canes-Pens Eastern Final? Feh. I hate the Pens for who they are and I hate the Canes for where they are. I guess I'll grudingly pull for the Canes, but I won't be tuning into this series much.

Hawks-wings should be incredible, however. I like both squads, though i do feel a little queasy about how the Wings got that last goal. i hate when the refs just let forwards hammer away at the goalie after he has amde the intila stop and the puck is under him. granted - it was legit - the puck was not frozen - I just think its a little bit of a shame that a goal like that settled Game 7.
