Are there any plans to create a tournament program for X-wing?
Software app for tournaments
Check out AFewManeuvers.com and their download section. :>)
I've used the AFM software. It is ok...nothing special. It does not track strength of schedule. And it does have a major problem in my opinion - if you make a mistake entering a result and close the round, you can't go back and edit the result. I guess if you use paper backup in case you have problems it does work. But hopefully someone out there can find/design better software to use.
I don't know what he was using last weekend, but out tourney organizer, Osoroshii on here, had some software that tracked strength of schedule and everything else.
Looks like it covers wins, losses, and ties ... but not modified wins.

Couldnt you just put in 3 points instead of 5 for a modified win?
Is the system used 5 pts for a full win, 3pts for modified, and 1pt for a loss?
You can put in whatever points you need to
Looks like it handles all the major stuff for running a tournament. Would need to test it some more to see if it could handle the 1st-round byes for a Regional properly, but for local tournaments we may have a winner.
Thanks for posting!
I'm looking for beta testers for an iOS app to manage tournaments.
Currently it handles pairing based on the players current rank, highlighting tables where players have already played against each other. Pairs can be adjusted manually.
Ties are broken according to strength of schedule, then according to total enemy ship destroyed points.
Please send me a private message if you're interested.

I would suggest changing it to net points destroyed... Or better yet (points destroyed) / (pointed lost).
For the Net points, the reason for that is that some squads are more aggressive than others, and you don't want your made up tie breaker to bias them
For the ratio of points killed, not only does it not bias squads based on aggressiveness, but it also handles the bye by not further handicapping someone for having the bye. There's no opportunity to kill ships if you didn't play... but if you use a ratio, there's also no opportunity to lose ships. A simple "net points" doesn't work as well since the winners will always net more points destroyed each game, while the losers will always net a negative number. As such, the more games you play, the farther away from 0 you are. Whereas a ratio should have an asymptotic line that you'd eventually reach (your kill ratio!) and it'd stabilize at that. So having the bye doesn't further affect you.
Also, if you make an Android version, I'd be happy to give it a go.
This is what I use and also what FFG uses. works great.
I've followed Khyros' recommendation to use the net points destroyed.
Ties are now broken using the official rules :
- if the two players have competed against each other, the winner of the match wins the tie (this is the same for more than 2 players only if each player has played against each other in the tie)
- if the tie is not broken, strength of schedule is used
- if still not broken, net points are used
Just a quick update about the app. It is now available on the App Store for free.
Of course, it has been updated to the latest tournament rules

Just downloaded it, and will be trying it out. I have 2 tournaments to run in the next month.
