Can you "Angle Deflectors" & Boost Shields both in the same round?

My GM is making the case that you cannot since it would be an overload in the systems but reading the rules seem to think that yes you can. Before I make a case to him I would like to have backup from people here.

Please give me your thoughts.

Rules As Written, you can. Whoever's putting the effort into running the game has final say, though.

I'm not sure why your GM is objecting, however - doesn't seem overpowered to me (shield rating can never exceed 4).

Yeah, I don't know what your GM's deal is, that's totally viable. It's not really any different then Pulling a Blaster and then firing that Blaster in the same round.

"Overload the systems" is what he's supposed to do if you roll Threat while trying.
